Rebates for efficiency are great. Some of you might remember my talking about a hybrid water heater awhile ago. I talked to a high school buddy who is a plumber. In Maine plumber's get the rebate instantly so no paperwork to figure out, he just needed my address. We ended up getting a hybrid 50 gallon hot water heater for about the price of a conventional 40 gallon unit plus a 10 year warranty instead of 6.In the end we got an AO Smith because thats what Lowes in Presque Isle sells. Yup. I just did an energy audit on another house and the rebates from the utilities will total $1000 if I have the work done. A couple summers ago I replaced all the ductwork under the house, now it's time for the attic ductwork. Should have done this during the winter when it was cool. I think I'm going to get some prices to pay someone to do this.
