There are definitely primers or surface preparation chemicals to get paint to stick to plastic, I’m not aware of anything that makes it more flexible. I seem to recall there is an additive for painting plastic to make the paint "flexible" so it bonds well over the life of the bumper and it's flex. Might want to speak to your paint supplier about that. Max, I don’t recall it being anything difficult. The eldest son’s bumper strip was sort of rough and I looked into replacing it. Thanks guys, next question. The prospective "new" bumper is the middle version, with painted body and chrome, but near-black impact strip, from a 1990 sedan. My cabriolet is a '95 so the bumper is all one color. I’ve done bumpers with a couple of custom mixed rattle cans from the paint guys in WI. Just sanded and prepped the surfaces, no big deal.
