Re: [MBZ] Parallel flow condenser
You’re welcome. I had my hoses rebuilt with barrier style material by my local hose guy, I think it cost me around $150. Cheaper than buying new ones if they were even available and with modern material, too. -D > On Apr 13, 2020, at 10:07 AM, Mike Esh via Mercedes > wrote: > > Thanks Dan, that is the information I was looking for. > Mike > >> On Apr 13, 2020, at 9:15 AM, Dan Penoff via Mercedes >> wrote: >> >> Mike, >> >> I replaced the hoses I could get to in the engine compartment and re-sealed >> the compressor, along with replacing the stock condenser with the parallel >> flow condenser. >> >> The system was secure and working when I replaced everything, I just wasn’t >> happy with the performance on R134a and it was a good opportunity to go >> through everything. >> >> -D >> >>> On Apr 13, 2020, at 9:09 AM, Michael Esh wrote: >>> >>> Dan, >>> Did you replace all the components in the cooling system or just the >>> condenser? >>> >>> Mike >>> On Apr 12, 2020, at 1:48 PM, Dan Penoff via Mercedes wrote: These guys: https://klimakit.com/about/ I’ve used their stuff and was very pleased. -D > On Apr 12, 2020, at 1:46 PM, Michael Esh via Mercedes > wrote: > > Could someone share any info on purchasing and installing a parallel flow > condenser in an 83 240D? > I am contemplating upgrading the cooling system as long as I have the > engine out. > Best place to purchase? Re: [MBZ] Parallel flow condenser
Mike, I replaced the hoses I could get to in the engine compartment and re-sealed the compressor, along with replacing the stock condenser with the parallel flow condenser. The system was secure and working when I replaced everything, I just wasn’t happy with the performance on R134a and it was a good opportunity to go through everything. -D > On Apr 13, 2020, at 9:09 AM, Michael Esh wrote: > > Dan, > Did you replace all the components in the cooling system or just the > condenser? > > Mike > >> On Apr 12, 2020, at 1:48 PM, Dan Penoff via Mercedes >> wrote: >> >> These guys: >> >> https://klimakit.com/about/ >> >> I’ve used their stuff and was very pleased. >> >> -D >> >>> On Apr 12, 2020, at 1:46 PM, Michael Esh via Mercedes >>> wrote: >>> >>> Could someone share any info on purchasing and installing a parallel flow >>> condenser in an 83 240D? >>> I am contemplating upgrading the cooling system as long as I have the >>> engine out. >>> Best place to purchase? And just to elaborate, I used their kit for a W126. Everything mated up as promised, installation was simple and straightforward. Definitely made a difference in performance. My car had already been converted to R134a so I had a point of reference. Vent temps were lower and it was more responsive. The OE R12 system (converted to R134a) would have noticeable changes in vent temperature at idle, for example. You could feel it blowing warmer air when sitting at a stop light, for instance. As soon as you started moving it would cool down. I was a little reluctant to drop the coin for this, but glad I did and would definitely do it again. -D > On Apr 12, 2020, at 1:46 PM, Michael Esh via Mercedes > wrote: > > Could someone share any info on purchasing and installing a parallel flow > condenser in an 83 240D? > I am contemplating upgrading the cooling system as long as I have the engine > out. > Best place to purchase?
