Re: [MBZ] Parallel flow condenser

2020-04-13 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
You’re welcome.

I had my hoses rebuilt with barrier style material by my local hose guy, I
think it cost me around $150. Cheaper than buying new ones if they were even
available and with modern material, too.

Re: [MBZ] Parallel flow condenser

2020-04-13 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Mike,

I replaced the hoses I could get to in the engine compartment and re-sealed the
compressor, along with replacing the stock condenser with the parallel flow
condenser.

The system was secure and working when I replaced everything, I just wasn’t
happy with the performance on R134a and it was a good opportunity to go through
everything.

2020-04-12 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
And just to elaborate, I used their kit for a W126. Everything mated up as
promised, installation was simple and straightforward. Definitely made a
difference in performance. My car had already been converted to R134a so I had
a point of reference. Vent temps were lower and it was more responsive.

The OE R12 system (converted to R134a) would have noticeable changes in vent
temperature at idle, for example. You could feel it blowing warmer air when
sitting at a stop light, for instance. As soon as you started moving it would
cool down.

I was a little reluctant to drop the coin for this, but glad I did and would
definitely do it again.
