I don't have any real pictures to compare but I can say that in the EPC the illustrations are similar but not exactly the same. The part description is exactly the same, 3/2 way valve. I don't know if this helps or not. Dan, I can't tell you if the 002 997 53 36 is Chinese or not. I can tell you that it is made by MTC which is a well known aftermarket company and not Genuine Mercedes. That part number fits all 616 617 diesels and is located on top of the valve cover. Mercedes does not show that it is replaced by any other number. The 003 997 00 36 fits only M117.962 and M117.963 5.0 liter V-8's and is located on the throttle body housing. Mercedes does not show that it is a replacement for any other part numbers. It would definitely be a Genuine Mercedes item and I sell it for $68.00. [MBZ] Part numbers
Can anyone see parts associated with part numbers? I have an old 3-2 valve from - gasp - auto trans 240D with part number 002-997-53-36 on it. A guy from - second gasp - the 'other' list has told me the replacement part number is 003-997-00-36 - I would like to know that these are duplicate parts. Classic Center has said the old part number is no longer available and is petitioning to have new parts supplied. They were even unaware of the part number switch and are going to compare, but... impatient me... perhaps someone here has access to part number applications and photo? These are vacuum elements for auto trans. That part number 002 997 53 36 is a good part number it doesn't supersede to anything. I have access to hundreds of them at $21.95. [MBZ] Part numbers for plastic vacuum tubing
Hi all, I recently was looking up some part numbers for the Tecalan (plastic) vac tubing used on most MB's. Here's some updated information. I'm not sure if all these part numbers are still available, I may try to order a few of the oddball ones and see what shows up. I have ordered most of these in the past with good results. If your tubing is original, it may snap like dry twigs if you look at them wrong - worth checking, and replacing, if you haven't already done so. They're mostly under $3 per meter, MSRP - call Rusty to order. Some of the fittings splitters are a little higher, they can be $2-$6 each. Larger smaller are available too...) Branch fittings (splitters) === 601-078-02-45 - Y shaped 2-port branch fitting (1 in, 2 out) 601-078-04-45 - Y shaped 3-port branch fitting (1 in, 3 out) 601-078-05-45 - Y shaped 4-port branch fitting (1 in, 4 out) 601-078-06-45 - F shaped 2-port branch fitting (1 in, 2 out) If anyone orders these parts, and finds any of my information to be inaccurate, PLEASE let me know and I'll update the list. About half the numbers have been verified from past orders, the rest are best guess from EPC data.
