[MBZ] Pisten Bully update

2023-02-01 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
Got back to the Pisten Bully yesterday. Monday one of the other guys walked an
excavator to it clearing the road so we could drive in.

I drew the short straw and "got to" go underneath to pull the oil pan. I don't
consider myself a small guy but in the snowmobile community I guess I'm
"skinny".
We jacked it up so it was sitting on 3 6x6 blocks which was just enough to let
me get the pan out.

There are a bunch of bolts and studs holding the thing up, it's a big pan after
all. Fortunately they all came out easily. Only one stud pulled and I only lost
one nut which fell down my coat and disappeared.

The only real victim was a rubber hose from the turbo oil return into the pan
that snapped. I'll get a chunk to replace it.

So the pan is out to get welded, the plan is to get it back this afternoon and
have it in the machine tomorrow morning. Hopefully the welder can make that
time frame, we shall see.

Adding fluids will be a trick, dang thing holds just under 5 gallons of oil and
almost 9 gallons of coolant...
