Agree. Strip whatever is likely to sell for enough $$ to be worth the hassle, and scrap the rest. Stuff happens. Re: [MBZ] The smell of burning CLK in the afternoon
I have no idea what to expect. Will say it was simply a couple of guys in a 1 ton truck with a gas powered water tank on the back, which of course took them 15-20 minutes to show up. A sheriff deputy showed up first, followed by several minutes later an ambulance, and finally the "fire truck" While things could have been much worse, I would hate to have had a real emergency going on waiting for the local yocals to show up. We have had a few different neighbors over the years that have had their barns burn completely down. I never thought about it too much but guess it probably started as something small and it took them so long to show up that it got out of control by the time they arrived. With this deal , the car not running on all cylinders and then started backfiring. I am assuming that much have rapidly lit off some unburned fuel somehow and it maybe shot the flames out of the cut off exhaust under the car. It seemed to have started on the back drivers side of the engine. There were no fuel leaks or anything like that so it was all very surprising. As big as the flames where right off the bat, even if I had a fire extinguisher nearby in the shop, but the time I got back with it and I got it put out i am certain the car would have been for sure a parts car, but would have at least had a lot more parts that could have been sold or whatever.
