Yeah, I'm not real clear on the change where they went to the 722.6 tranny.

I wonder if it shifts manually... That would be a giveaway.

This car is in a sketchy neighborhood, so I'm not sure I want to look at it or
not. If I do I may take someone with me

range with high mileage, which doesn't scare me.

At what years are you looking?

Budget appears to dictate mid to early 90s, but later is always better. That
avoids things like evaporators and wiring harnesses.

[MBZ] Today's CL find

It's a POS but other than that its not a bad car. Maybe Kaleb wants to
take a run to the east coast?

http://charleston.craigslist.org/cto/1028636274.html

   Mercedes 190E 1990 2.6 Black Reliable 4sp Auto - $600 (Charleston, SC)

The car is in great mechanical shape with the exception of a low idle
and vibration while stopped on Drive. Otherwise it runs fine and will
provide years of reliable transportation. Has new brake pads, E300 mag
wheels (same style slightly wider) and original mag wheels with bad
tires. Front dark red leather seats have some cracks and tears, needs a
stereo, heater is bipassed due to a hose leak behind the firewall. When
at speed in the highway it rides like a cloud. Surprisingly low fuel
mileage (around 28-30mpg combined). Also rear power windows are not
working, and driver's door key lock is not working. It must have been
broken into as there are some dings and scratches around the door. All
other locks work and it is power/vacuum system.
It has a salvage title but it wasn't wrecked, it was scratched with
sharp object by gangsters. I pen touched up the scratches so they can
not be notcied if you are 6' or further away, but it really needs a
paint job.
Best offer will take it within the next 2 weeks as I am leaving the area
and can't take it with me, which is why I am selling everything I have
that doesn't fit in my van.

Why not? 'Totaled' means total (economic) loss. All it requires
is that the cost of repairs exceed the value of the car.
