Re: [MBZ] Trimmer mowers

2019-06-11 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
We've got a weed eater at camp with a 3 bladed cutter on it. Its a straight
shaft professional series Husqvarna with a harness so you carry the weight on
your shoulders rather than in your arms. With the harness properly adjusted I
can run it for hours without getting overly tired. Its one that Uncle Reg
bought in the mid-'90s I think and still runs great. It'll easily cut through
1" trees so you have to be very careful trimming around anything you want to
keep...

A bit spendy, but for a vast estate such as yours, with lots of stuff to

equipment would come sooner rather than later..

Weed whacker / string trimmer stuff drives you nuts just keeping string in
one, if you are covering more than a city lot.
The D R Mower folks have developed a hand operated BushHog on wheels that
is self propelled. pretty whip ass.

Have a look, might work for you.

Use one of those U bolts and two old kids
bike learner wheels back to back on the shaft

Ummm,,, the DR Mower I linked to "should" not be a string trimmer... it has
steel blades like a Bush Hog tractor mower and has knobby drive wheels with
a hand clutch for motion control... some models also have reverse.

The DR trimmer mower was the original.
My mom bought one of the first Craftsman knockoffs.
It's good on decent terrain, but trying to wrestle a string trimmer on a 45
degree slope when it has a 5hp Briggs engine on it is not fun.
For wide swaths, get a wheeled trimmer.
For agility, get a pro style trimmer with a shoulder harness and a handlebar so
it doesn't bother your back.
