Someone did the boot/metal can replacement without the special press for
the metal can, I think they managed with vice grips, hammer, pliers,
etc. Order three or four of the real MB kits, apply some shade-tree
ingenuity and I'll bet you can figure it out.

Assuming homokinetic axle, inside boot 126 350 03 37 = $45 wholesale,
outside can/boot kit = 126 350 02 37 = $66 wholesale. Dealer cost is
lower, Rusty may be able to get you better prices or not. I'm using the
2009-10 price list from Dave M's website, I think a newer price list is
out now so the prices may be up 10% or so.

Nope. The lube is sealed in by the boot. The differential oil
lubricates the bearing surface at the inboard end of the shaft.

There uses to be some PoS (not point of sale!) split boot kits that
you could get at your local McParts...

Avoid them.

Lubrication is (permanently) enclosed within the boot at assembly; it

Peter, The boots can be replaced, but it is hard to do without the

in OZ, but you might find them there or in hong kong or Singapore.

If you can afford the freight and any duties , Rusty does sell new
