[MBZ] Winding Road Internet Magazine

2007-01-27 Thread LarryT

Howdy -
The latest issue of this ever-improving, free, internet-based magazine
has been released for downloading. This magazine now has David E Davis as
publisher (for a while now actually), formerly publisher of Automobile and
Car & Driver. Mr. Davis' presence has seen the magazine grow from fewer
than 60 pages to over 120 pages.

I can only assume they are receiving a fair amount of income from online
advertising because the subscription is free. Also, you'll find just
something for everyone although the emphasis is on sports cars - depending
on your definition of what a sports car is. ;-) But you'll find Ferrari's,
Porsche's, Lamboghini's, Mercedes' and lots of other stuff. Something for
everyone.

Anyway, take a look at http://windingroad.com/ to see the latest issue -
and download if desired.

Enjoy -

Yep, it's amazing quality for a free publication. Although, I suspect
the "Free" part may change at some point. If you look at the Back Issues
you'll see the size of the magazine has grown enormously. And with the
addition of DE Davis they have entered "The Big Time" at least in the eyes
of other publications.

Advertising has grown quite a bit also. I may be wrong about charging
for issues - their cost to publish is pretty low - zero paper, ink, printing
costs, very low distribution costs leaving the bulk of the budget for
employees and purchasing articles and photographs.

The "Winding Road" articles are pretty neat - featuring readers
favorites roads for driving on with sports cars - I need to go bak and
re-read them as it;s been a while.

I've been reading Winding Road for a while now. For a free PDF
magazine, or even print, it's incredibly high quality. One of my
favourite articles was on the 1992 500E in Issue 9. Awesome photos.
You can get all the back issues online once you register for free too.

The latest issue of this free E Magazine has been released. There's
usually
plenty of articles about Mercedes' - even Diesels The website
www.windingroad.com has
\the current issue with links to back issues. All the back issues are
not

available in a one shot download - but individual articles are there. I
have
all 16 issues if anyone needs one.

I believe one issue talks about a Lotus on Bio!

You can sign up for free email alerts as well as automatic downloads of
current issues if desired. An excellent resource - and it;s free.
Another

neat feature is a Favorite Winding Road submitted by readers around the
country.

Neat stuff - Enjoy -
