Apple is downward spiraling all together, they're making products to sell more products rather than "thinking different". They're removal of useful ports that they pioneered just a couple years before is very telling. I would try a fresh install on an empty hard drive rather than try to upgrade from Windows 7. No I meant from fresh media, by which I mean download the .iso for Win10 and use Rufus to make a boot disk. Kaleb, I sent you some file attachments, but neither my email or the files seem to have made it through to you. If you get them, try the Upgrade Assistant (original). It was good at finding and showing actual reasons that your PC is not ready for an upgrade. It was the reason I found out that one of my Vostros needed a BIOS upgrade first. And for the other naysayers, I've always upgraded because it keeps all my settings and I don't have to waste time creating them again. Also, I first used Macs in the early 90s. They had HD controller problems and other issues. Yes they had good graphics, but... We all like what we use. I just don't use odd or non mainstream APPs. Not worth the OS problems they can cause. Some things I had not heard of before: In computing, SSHFS (SSH Filesystem) is a filesystem client to mount and interact with directories and files located on a remote server or workstation over a normal ssh connection. Just did it, worked perfectly. Nice, I've got win 10 using 64 but and recognizing all 8 GB RAM. Download the clean installation from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10 Install a clean version, and when you connect to internet and it asks for the key, use your Win7 key. After installing all windows 7 updates available and I have no av software running I ran the upgrade again. Failed again.
