[MBZ] leaking reservoir caused short circuit ?

2010-07-15 Thread motikwa

I filled the windshield fluid tank, walked away for awhile and returned to find
large poodle on floor and empty tank. Started the '83 300SD and backed out of
garage and parked for the night. Next am, dead battery. Did overnite charge,
next am fired right up and moved it to shady spot. Approx. 2 hours later went
to go, and dead battery.

No hint of any battery problem prior to this though I am probably 4 years into
this one.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? I have no idea what's down there - hope I
don't have to find out, but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much.

Steve

Something may be shorted electrically (in an unswitched circuit apparently)
or the battery may be self discharging. I had a 3 year old battery that self
discharged to the point that I needed a charger if I parked for 30 minutes.
Replaced the battery and all was well.

I say get it charged up, disconnect the battery overnight, and see what happens.

Either that, or unhook a battery lead and connect it through a stout ammeter and
see what the car's current draw is.

Mitch.

I have 3 big poodles, 2 phantom and one red, on the floor, but they are
nowhere near my 84 300SD.
