Doing a fluid change on the e300d a few years ago, I used it as
insurance for the trip from Seattle to D.C. and Florida. No great heat
at home to worry about, but I knew I would be doing hills and heat
close to the Atlantic and midwest. Worked like a charm, keeping the
temps under 110 in traffic

I agree but the stuff only works if you have a heat problem. Water Wetter
will not drop your temperature below your thermostat temperature.

But, if you have a heat problem it's not a known design flaw with the car
then the best solution is to ID fix the cause instead of adding something
to help with cooling.

Ok, here's the deal on Water Wetter. It is most efficient when used
with water only and no coolant. The more coolant the less effective it
is. A lot of PCA members run straight Water Wetter in their 924's
944's when Club Racing. When used with no water or no coolant it is a
very worthwhile product and can lower engine temperatures by 20 degrees.
We sell it for $7.00 per bottle.

it is not advisable for people with pacemakers to play with 120v.
It also helps to have callouses on your fingers. Almost all the patrons of
said hardware store were farmers with calloused fingers. Burkie would not
let you grab the wires if your fingers were wet.

Worst zap I ever got was one leg of 440 in the basement of the Turtle Bay
HIlton while kneeling in a puddle of water. That got my attention! I had
taken all the precautions available, but was nervous about the
water. Needless to say, I took even more precautions while finishing the job.

I am not advocating being stupid. A couple of guys I have known have been
electrocuted. I AM saying that 120v with dry skin and rubber/plastic soled
shoes is not the mortal shock some are advocating, (unless you have a
pacemaker.) It is just introducing a bit of perspective into the
discussion of replacing cords. I am very cautious around electricity. My
point is only that if you take proper precautions, such as wearing rubber
soled shoes and keeping your feet dry, most contact with low voltage is not
fatal, and nothing to get hysterical about.

If a new cord was used and routed over a wear/abrasion point, it is just as
possible that it could theoretically pass 120 V to the chassis (after a
period of time) as a repaired cord. A properly repaired cord is not a
death sentence.

It is NOT approved (never been submitted for approval as far as I know),
but I can't imagine how it could harm the engine. There is NO number of
degrees that it improves cooling! I does allow a little to a lot better
cooling to occur by lowering surface tension and allowing greater heat
transfer between the metal surfaces and the liquid, but the effect is
dependent on the concentration of anti-freeze in your coolant (the more
anti-freeze the smaller the cooling improvement).

I have used Water Wetter and it's a VERY good product, but there is no
reason it should be required in MOST Mercedes (manufactured in the las
couple of decades) that are operating correctly and are being used for
transportation (as opposed to racing or pulling trailers)!

Ideally it would be added when coolant is flushed and replenished, but that's a ways off for both cars.

That will work (it will eventually be completely mixed), but I'd remove

I went to the link, signed up for the forum and privately e-mailed my order to
Brian Carlton.

IF ANYONE ELSE IS INTERESTED, please do the same...looks like we are at
about 25 kits and how does them in batches of 30...you won't be on the list
unless you contact him as I have above.

  Thanks, Chris

My apologies for hiding the link, it was shoved to the bottom of my reply.

To get on the list for EGR kits, go to this site:

Brian Carlton makes the kits and if you go to post #32 you will see what is
provided.

If I take your orders, I'll tack on my fee and the kits will cost you about
$3,750 each, not worth it IMHO. :-)

  Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I need one for a 603 and 617.

I will talk to my friends and am almost certain that we will take, in
addition, 3 more for a 617.

do 616's have EGR's? don't think they do...if so, we'll be adding another 3.

Please let me know on the 616 and I will check with my
