Yes the 8x16 SL wheels inspire confidence. Maybe too much confidence, as I
still don't know which end lets loose first in corners

When I put 18” staggered wheels and tires on the 97 SL500 it was like a totally 
different car.  With the stock 16” (skinny) wheels it was twitchy and uber 
sensitive.  With the wider and larger diameter rubber the car drives like it’s 
on rails.  Personally I don’t like the ride, as I think it’s harsh, but that’s 
due to my preference for the S class ride.
