Reminds me of the dearly departed Frankenheap.
Gray/red W115 with a stickshift. Wing windows.

Mine was a 200D, without any AC accommodation,
so the console was much more svelte. Also had a
column shifter. Disconnected, and with a floor shifter
butchered into it. Hence, Franken.

I bought it for $100, not $7,000!

Re: [MBZ] 1970 220D with 6 cyl gas engine

2013-09-27 Thread Jaime Kopchinski
The secret to Zeniths is to just get a car with low miles and hasn't been
overheated and abused. At least, thats the easy way to get good ones.

Actually, thats the secret to getting a nice old car overall.

Re: [MBZ] 1970 220D with 6 cyl gas engine

2013-09-27 Thread dseretakis
As far as I know the W114 body differs from the W115 with respect to the number
of spot welds. A W115 has more closely spaced welds giving the body the
necessary extra strength needed for taxi and other utilitarian duty often seen
by diesels.

Weird. I thought the 114 body was the 115 with a longer nose,
suitable for the I6 engine instead of the 4's. So how did they
 get a M130 into the 115?

Anyway, there's an online manual for the Zenith. I thought I
had a copy, but I don't see anything now.
