Hubcaps are much more durable over 40-60 years, don't need to be 
repainted (unless you rub them against curbs) and are MUCH easier to 
clean than a bundt.   Most bundts by now have been repainted once or 
thrice, or are ugly.  Bundts get curb rash easily.  This effectrively 
makes them scrap to an exhibitor.  For a rustbucket, who cares, but for 
a car like andrew's current or old wagons, scratched up bundts ruin the 
appearance.


I'll take hubcaps and steel wheels over bundts anytime.  Aluminum wheels 
like started this thread, and hubcaps are the ideal, optimum.

I always figured aluminum heads were an imperfect solution because they
expand differently than the rest of the engine when heated and are mainly
used to save weight. Am I wrong?

The whole bleeding engine is aluminum.
