My German teacher in high school, Frau Johnson, used to tell the story of how 
when her family came to United States at some point in the early 1950s, her dad 
bought and an A6 for their family vehicle. He drove it until 1988ish when the 
family pulled his license after he obliterated a Chevette at a stop sign, 
barely scratching his Checker.

A buddy in high school drove one his dad had bought at a charity auction for 
$100. Old taxi. It was repainted baby blue. It was the school bus, it would fit 
about 10kids with the big back front and rear bench seats and 2 jump seats in 
the back. 

When he left for college his younger sister got it and drove it for 2-3yr. It 
was awesome. Built like a tank and I think it was 3 on the tree.  He never had 
a bit of trouble with it and it was a beast in the snow too. 

I knew this girl in Houston whose mother actually lived about 3 blocks from me 
there. I had met the girl through business 3 or 4 years before moving there and 
she had told the story of her mother who had a Marathon done up in a 60s taxi 
motif and that was her car. So I see this thing like 3 days after moving there 
and called the girl and asked if that was her mother and shonuff it was. It was 
very cool.  I stopped one day and introduced myself that her daughter had told 
me about her and the taxi. The daughter had told her I had seen the car so she 
was excited to meet me. I’d see her driving all over 
In that thing.
