Randy wrote: You had better hope that the BMW stays healthy! Selling to close friends, relatives, co-workers etc can be risky. I am confident it will be fine. Plus, it has nearly 200,000 miles. They know that I have checked everything out and that the car is in good shape, but it is not a new car. They are planning to just drive it for a few months while their Son goes to school. Her husband is going to buy a new truck in a few months and they are going to keep it just for an extra car. Of all the cars I have sold to friends/family or co-workers, ALL of them have been fine (I am currently knocking wood just in case.) In 1998, I sold a 1990 Mazda 626 with 215,000 to my in laws it was a great car and they drove it for a few years until my brother in law crashed it driving too fast on the highway. A few years ago, I sold my 1995 BMW 740iL with 167,000 miles to a friend. About 3 years ago, I sold my 1990 Buick Lesabre with 195,000 to my Neighbor. He still has it. The alternator went out last year. But, other than that it has been fine. I think there have been others, but I can't remember which. I know I sold one other car to my in laws. Donald H. I have a feeling you will be a Mercedes owner again... HA! LOL thanks Max. The problem with current MB, is there are just a lot of them that I don't like. I do really like the newer diesels. So, that is certainly a possibility. Does the newer Diesel have more room than the 124 E Class? After driving a 7 series and really enjoying it, I think I would like an S class, but they are either WAY too expensive to purchase even used, or the cheaper ones are ticking time bombs. I did see a 1995 S Class the other day that was BEAUTIFUL. But, it was on the used car street where they have all the tote the note places. I don't think I want to buy from them. Donald H. Allan wrote: Now everyone place your bets on how long until the Lexus is for sale I'll take 9 months to a year. :) I'm being funny, but I could envision that. It has such low miles and is still worth quite a bit, I considered trading it in on my way back to Wichita! Actually, it drives very well, it is great shape and still looks good. The only thing that is really bugging me is the keyless entry clicker doesn't work (hopefully, its just a battery) and the headlight covers are faded and yellowed. I hope to address both those issues this week. Donald H. Of course, it has one-fourth of the miles that my BMW has. BUT, the Lexus is NOT a 7 series. It doesn't have the power and it doesn't feel completely planted to the road the way the 7 series does. For the price I really couldn't pass it up. I drove from Biloxi to Dallas on Saturday and spent the night. Sunday morning, it was off to Wichita. It was about a 1000 mile trip. Car did great. I need to spend a weekend really detailing and restoring the headlight covers. They are the plastic kind that turns yellow and chalky. The reason for my email it to announce that the BMW has sold. The office manager at my firm emailed me this morning at 6:00 am asking if I still had the car. When I told her yes, she said, I want it, I'll bring a check. She parks next to me in the parking garage and I think she has admired it for a while. That was certainly the easiest sale I have ever had. I guess I am a Lexus owner now. Donald H.
