But the ones I've seen are not, Made from chrome plated, injection molded
plastic, so it can't be, the same process used to make OEM emblems.

And there's the spelling in the ad Biosiesel. Now that would be funny
on an emblem. He didn't say which carmaker used plastic emblems as factory
equipment, did he? (also, I have no idea what 2007 trunk badges are made of,
I just know my 201s and 116 are metal (probably pot metal, like Zamak).

The trunk emblems (300D and 2.5TURBO) on the 1990 ARE made of chrome-looking
plastic, held on with double-sided adhesive. The 1983 SD has chrome plated
pot metal, held on by pins into plastic retainers.
I'm pretty sure that most of the trunk emblems since at least 1990 are
plastic.

The newer ones (A la 210 chassis) are plastic, but they don't have the
underbar; they are loose letters.

That's ultra sweet. I nearly got one of those for wifey to drive after we
got married in July of '80. I had my '72 220D and I was looking for her a
car. I was getting ready to leave work one afternoon and to go to the bank
and my dad (I worked for my dad inspecting/cleaning sewers) gave me a heads
up that he was telling everyone else the next morning he sold the business
and everyone would be unemployeed in a week. As a result, I never went to
buy it. Sad.
