Re: [MBZ] Bio in BLUETEC?

2006-08-31 Thread John W. Reames III
So wtf do we get the ULSD then?
I have yet to see a single station in the baltimore area (or the couple I
know of in reston, or along I70-US15-VA267 that I know of which has
anything other than the LSD (federal law prohibits ... 2007 and newer
vehicles...)

*grr*

Any thoughts on ML-TD and the R-TD ?

2006-08-31 Thread Robert Tara Ludwick

Now you know one of the real reasons that the car manufacturers like VW
aren't putting out the 2007 model year diesels. I'm pretty sure that
they saw the writing on the walls for the US refineries. They're in one
of those catch 22 situations. the 2007 model year vehicles have to have
the emissions equipment that requires ULSD, but the oil companies , who
were supposed to have ULSD available nationwide by June 2006 to
accomodate the 2007 model year vehicles, are running way behind the
agreed schedule. It would have been financial suicide for vw etc to
release vehicles that are dependent on ULSD to a market that does not
have the fuel available
It's almost three months past the due date for ULSD and we still haven't
seen a drop of it in this area.
I have a friend with a fuel station and he's waiting on their first
shipment. And now the EPA is waffling on their switchover procedure,
originally they said that eithr the diesel storage tank would have to be
specially cleaned for a fortune to put ULSD in, or a new storage tank
installed ( cheaper ) now they are saying that they can just run the
tank to empty then refill with ulsd and on the third complete fill
they'll be able to call it ULSD, until then , it will have to be
labeled as lsd 500ppm. Even if they got filled tomorrow, it would
likely be pushing November before they'd be official, but as it stands,
the local distribution network is still without a clue.

Re: [MBZ] Bio in BLUETEC?

http://www.chevron.com/products/prodserv/fuels/diesel/ulsd.shtml#A2

October 15, 2006 for most of usa
September 1, 2006 for California (have to be different) also they
seem to restrict *all* diesel to 15ppm

October 15, 2006 for all of Canada

I'll note they started refining it by June 1, 2006 so you might have
it already, likely you need to ask the

supplier what they have?
