Re: [MBZ] Curt makes the news

Similar kind of thing here, Melanie had been written out of the will,
apparently she and Fred had a HUGE fight in the nursing home but somehow she
ingratiated herself and got back in at the last minute.
Theres a fair amount of money here, probably $300,000 in cash and a house on a
lake thats probably worth another half million. They're fighting over selling
that now. Fred's wife (my grandmother's sister) is still alive but has advanced
alzheimer's, might die tomorrow but might live another decade. As far as I'm
concerned everything is hers and she should live the rest of her days in
opulence, if all the money was gone the squabbling would stop...

Kollyphonya  (Kollyfonia?) Sister Syndrome.    In my younger days, I called it
California Sister Syndrome.

I have seem it so many times it should be in the APA handbook by now.

The first time I saw it in person was about 40 yrs ago.  My ffriends form
Kolledge went back to farm with the family.  Grandpa (about 80) promised them
the fram they lived on and farmed in his will.   His dad (grandpa's son) lived
nearby on a farm he had "owned" and worked since late 1945 when he came back
from the USAAF.   Only problem was that Grandpa never bothered to record legal
deeds to the farms, nor set up a trust.  We don't know if or when his will was
updated, or if he had a will.

(can you smell it coming?)

So grandpa croaks at 84 or 5 or so.  Is daught flies in from Kollyphonia.
either there was a will or not, I am not sure of the details, but both my fiend
and his dad, either found out the will was not updated, or the sister hid the
latest will or whatever.  At any rate, they made reasonable offers for "their"
farms to buy out the Kollyphonia sister's interest at fair market value.   The
Kollyphonia ssister has a hissy fit, runs all over the small town telling
everyone they are trying to "steal" the farms from her.  Being from LA, she
"knows" the farms are worth (X) times more than the price offered indicates.
(x = any number from 2 to 100, depending on how wacko the sister is)

Rather than agreeing to an appraisal, the Kollyphonya Sister calls in the big
city shysters, who file lawsuits and fors everything to be sold.   The whole
mess takes over 12 months, in which time both families are evicted and take
huge losses.  The dad dies of a broken heart within a year, his wife very close
to the same time.  My friend ended up havein his wife take the kids and leave,
with a divorce in the time it took to wind through the court.

In the end, the fair market value IS the fair market value, the GREEDY sister
gets less than the original offers, and goes back to Kollyphonia to sulk.

The sister with way overinflated ideas of farm value has been played out in
many many families I have known.  Of all the kids I knew in HS who went on to
farm, maybe 25% or less had a family that was able to make a generational
transition.  In most of the cases, the sister lived in Kollyphonya.   Im my
case, I was not fortunate enough to have a "sister" in Kollyphonya.  That is 10
times further away then my case.

Greed is greed, and unfortunately, greed and jealousy are rampant ing families.

Good luck with Melonhead.  We can hope the visit from the po-lice made a
lasting impression.  If so then threats of sending the popos to her may keep
her backed down.

The Cessna ended up in the driveway after the owner, 69-year old
Harold Guretzky

had to give up his pilot’s license for health reasons. Rather than paying
$150/month to store the plane, he removed the wings and had it
flat-bedded to
his driveway. He replaced the wings — which, I should add, do not
encroach on

anyone’s property other than his own — and it didn’t take too long for the
neighbors to start complaining, which led to ticketing and a summons
from the
Town of Hempstead Buildings Department which could cost as much as
$2500, with

fines every week the plane remains.

What baffles me is why did people give a shit? Multiple residents of
his street
apparently called the police — why? If you drive by a house with a
plane in the
driveway and your primary reaction is anything other than “hey, cool —
there’s a
plane in that driveway,” then I think you, as a human, have some
pretty severe

problems.

do what we want, UNTIL it causes a problem for others. I have a neighbor who is a real a**hole and
since I live in the country, I'm told you can do whatever you want in the country. My old civics

Harold needs to call it "art" and tell the neighbors it is guaranteed
expression under the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United
States of America and they can just STFU.

The Cessna ended up in the driveway after the owner, 69-year old Harold Guretzky
had to give up his pilot’s license for health reasons. Rather than paying
$150/month to store the plane, he removed the wings and had it flat-bedded to
his driveway. He replaced the wings — which, I should add, do not encroach on
anyone’s property other than his own — and it didn’t take too long for the
neighbors to start complaining, which led to ticketing and a summons from the
Town of Hempstead Buildings Department which could cost as much as $2500, with
fines every week the plane remains.

What baffles me is why did people give a shit? Multiple residents of his street
apparently called the police — why? If you drive by a house with a plane in the
driveway and your primary reaction is anything other than “hey, cool — there’s a
plane in that driveway,” then I think you, as a human, have some pretty severe
problems.

It's a fish out of water, very awkward looking.

(after going over to Panther's house with plans to vandalize his enclosed car
hauler)
... there was a lens staring directly back at me... I started trembling. Even
now I get emotional talking about it...

Don't like being monitored by security cameras on other peoples' property?
Then stay away!

I'd welcome that in their driveway, their trash-dump trailer is an eyesore.
I'll see if I can surreptitiously snap a pic later today.
That big white trailer indicates somebody doing work that needs to be hauled
around. I've taken to thinking of the trailer as the "procreation palace" since
the teenage kids are hanging around it.
