Re: [MBZ] Grease Fittings
HI all.. On my recent trip to pick up the 500E, I was picked up at the San Jose Airport by friends, Richard and Laura Simonds, in their 1956 Adenauer 300c with 78,000 miles... He even put on his chauffeur cap... Wonderful old car. Felt very pampered. Richard mentioned that every 100 miles a light on the dash comes on and he presses a lever that services about 11 (or maybe more) front end grease fittings.. Not the way it is now Chuck Headed back to Phoenix in the 500E tomorrow. Re: [MBZ] Grease Fittings
Yeah, there were several cars back then that had central lubrication -- some even automated. The point is that a properly designed joint only goes bad when the grease does or it gets dirt in it -- I've never replaced a ball joint or tie rod end with an intact boot. Every single one was torn... Peter

Cool setup. Not going to happen today with all of the planned obsolescence going on. If it were a modern car, this operation would require at least three computers and 300 yards of biodegradable wire to carry out.
