Biodiesel is a good idea.  There used to be a pump on Montague next to Fox 
Music, but he insisted on charging about 50 cents more than pump diesel.  I 
explained to him once that my car got about 10% worse mileage on pure 
biodiesel, why pay more for that, but he didn't want to hear about that.  Place 
is shut down now.

IF he ran it on unrefined animal fat  / oils, the injectors are full of
half burned oil snot, the IP is likely in full of congealed and semi hard
oil residue, along with the fuel tank and fuel supply lines...
Which is why "it wouldn't start"... no fuel being atomized.

Cleaning up the complete fuel system will be an experience you will
remember, for life.. good luck.

yeah. The guy said he had others calling him but I got there first and 
since I seemed to know something about the car he was like WTH take it.  
He just wanted it gone, probably would have taken $200.  It had been 
sitting on the side of the road, I'm not sure why the town had not towed 
it off or something but Folly Beach is a funky place so who knows.  I'll 
go get it this week sometime.

He had this BMW X3 there he was bitching about, said the thing was full 
of electronic gremlins and he wanted to unload it.  He wondered if I had 
any interest, I told him hell no.  I drove the 05ML500 over and he was 
kinda looking at it, I told him the older 163s were much better and that 
got him thinking.

The rear edges of the hood are rusty and the hinges are kinda just there 
holding it in place.  The sunroof has a rust spot but it isn't real bad 
yet.  There are some other rust spots around the wheels but not too 
bad.  It is def a Euro model, he had to go through some gyrations to get 
a title for it but he has it.


He was trying to start it when I got there, had the fuel line (with a 
big in-line filter) in a jug of diesel and a charger and jumper cables 
from his truck on the battery.  It would spin but not fire off.  GP 
relay seemed not to be holding closed but was clicking closed then 
releasing.  Not sure what that was about but GPs were not getting warm.  
He made mention of running it on "chicken grease."  U, ok  He 
said it was increasingly difficult to get started, which is probably 
goobered fuel/tank filter and maybe valves.


Overall it was about what you might expect from sitting for some time, 
rode hard not really well maintained, but it is what it is. I'm guessing 
that with some glow heat and clean fuel it might light off.


Anyway, $300 (he probably would have taken $200), if I can get it 
running and clean it up a bit it will be a quick flip to the fakebook 
boys.  I have this other 79 NA TD that could be a donor too, it is 
way rusty but "ran when parked."  Maybe I'll do a package deal for 
both of them, just get them out of here.


TCM for the 99ML320 showed up a little while ago, I gotta get that in 
here shortly and see if it cures the limp mode on this thing.

Goferit!  Hard to tell how rusty it is, bad pix and dark brown color.
Interior looks very rough.

However, it does have Euro lights!

May not have a sunroof?  No luggage strips on the roof.
