Re: [MBZ] MGs -- WAS - OT Supreme Court upholds gun rights
I was always tinkering with it - had SU carbs which I found very easy to tune - when I followed the instructions. The points were a PITA to change and adjust - had to remove the distr to get to things easily. The worst problem I ever had was 2 weeks after a tune up - it would run a while, then cough, spit and backfire. I'd sit beside the road keeping it idling until all of a suddeb Vrom! It would rev as free as ever. I'd roar off down the road until later when it would do it again. Once when parked acorss from a gas station - the good kinds, the kinds with mechanics - he yelled from across the street - sounds like the condenser! Got any grass?? We got together and he attached a temp condenser with alligator clips - problem solved. Replaced the cond the next day and never had more problems. The mech said condensers often fails after 2 weeks -- or never. That and the fuel pump were the biggest problems. Lucas got a bad name when people would not maintain things properly - then connections would become intermittant and the Prince of Darkness would be blamed. Anyway - love the car - can;t wait to get her drivable again. Makes me want to go out buy an MG or something. Seriously, I've always wanted one but never got around to buying an MGB. I have too many other car motorcycle projects. Hey Tom, You;ll love it if you do - very simple and easy to work on. Just don't let a fear of finding parts prevent you buying one - it's never a problem ;-) Larry T (66 MGB, 74 911, 91 300D) www.youroil.net for Oil Analysis and Weber Parts Test Results http://members.rennlist.com/oil PORSCHE POSTERS! youroil.net 800-583-8601 Weber Carb Info http://members.rennlist.com/webercarbs - Original Message - From: Tom Hargrave [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 'Mercedes Discussion List' mercedes@okiebenz.com Sent: Saturday, June 28, 2008 10:22 AM Subject: Re: [MBZ] MGs -- WAS - OT Supreme Court upholds gun rights Makes me want to go out buy an MG or something.
