If you really want to make a hit [pun intended] and save electricity, I saw
one in Haiti a few years ago that you heated by putting hot coals from the
fire into the base. You'd be ahead of the energy curve.

Just don't give her one that she has to heat on woodstove. I think the iron
that we have was a wedding present-38 years old. Says something about how
often we use it.

Yeah I baited you on that one.. In fact she's asked for the iron... Woman
spends a lot of time ironing her clothes and likes a nice iron. Her current
one was a wedding present and she's worn the outer skin off the iron part...

Friend burned up one of those wheat neck pillows. (Bounce
on the 0 key, didn't notice it still running 20 minutes
later when the smoke started coming out of the kitchen.)
Got rid of the oven.

No doubt you could do it, but it might need to be opened up
and have all its interior crevices scrubbed with soda.

Good suggestion. I'm already getting her a new electric oven because the
thermostat on our 20 year old one has gotten VERY wierd. What's a second

Try tomato juice or sauce. A friend got a skunk mad at him in his carport
utility room. The skunk won then left, he/she also marked the room. One or
the other above items was the only thing that got the smell down to livable
conditions.

Yup. Lemon juice. Boil it in the microwave, do it a few times to get all the
smoke out, and this is after you clean the inside as good as possible.

Saved mom's microwave after a wasted brother put some taquitos on a little
