Re: [MBZ] OT: moving to a small town

2017-09-07 Thread Curley McLain via Mercedes
It worked out well for Tom Vilsack. Mt. Pleasant was a small town with
30-40 lawyers. I don't remember the population of town, but the whole
of Henry county was about 7500 in the late 80s when he became Mayor
after someone shot up the city council over a backed up sewer. I'd
guess about 3500 for the population of Mt. Pleasant. Do the math!
that is about 1 shyster for every 100 people in town! 1 shyster for
every 200 people in the county! NONE of em starved! (unfortunately)

Tom liked to go out and walk early in the morning. I still think
Christie is the brains of the family. Her old man was one of the
leading shysters in town.

I have decided to take a position at a firm rather than keep my own
practice going. So, I will moving from Wichita (a fairly large city)
to McPherson Kansas (about 15,000 population). I didn't one
interesting thing. My office is on main street right by the
Courthouse. It is a typical small town main street. Someone works in a
business nearby and they have a 126 350SD with personalized plates. It
looks great! Hopefully I can meet the owner. My office is 59 miles
from my house. So, I will commuting for a while until my house sells.
Since its not a terrible commute, I don't think it will be that bad.

County government is for unincorporated areas.
Too bad we don't have a good mechanism in place for dissolving it when the
whole county becomes cities and towns.
