Therefore, there will be a changing of the climate, but the waters of the
ocean, sky and rivers will not increase, such that they break the covenant.
There living creatures will get damp feet, but will all do fine. Greenland
will become green, Antarctica will remain dark for months, as will the arctic,
from whence all good energy and metals with which to make cars that suckle upon
the electrons.

You are most correct, see Genesis 9:11-17:

11 I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall
all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never
again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” 12 And
God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make
between me and you and every living creature that is with
you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my bow in
the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between
me and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the earth and
the bow is seen in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant
that is between me and you and every living creature of all
flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to
destroy all flesh. 16 When the bow is in the clouds, I will
see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and
every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that
I have established between me and all flesh that is on the
earth.”

yes, that too.   It is also a symbol of Hawaii.   THe U of H uses the
rainbow as their name and logo for athletics.
And I remember how great I thought the Hawaii Rainbow license plate was
when it first came into use, about 1990.  But that was before the wackos
subverted the rainbow to mean something else.  There is something magic
about rainbows in Hawaii, especially when you see double or triple rainbows.

It is by design that a certain group of subversives try to make certain
parts of our culture or symbols and claim they mean something offensive
to the culture at large.   Now I hear they have subverted the OK sign,
widely used as a hand signal by GIs in WWII and onward to mean
I/We/Everything am/are/is OK and claim it means something offensive.

First it was the YWCA, then the ymca, and on and  on.

Re: [MBZ] OT more boars 

2019-12-13 Thread dan--- via Mercedes
I started out with Ruger revolvers when I bought a Super Single Six .22
revolver a few years ago on a whim. Fun to shoot, cheap to use, dead nuts
accurate for a pistol.

After some outings to the range with it, I decided I wanted a larger caliber
single action pistol, but I really didn’t want a .44 or larger hand cannon as
most of the Ruger models are.

With this in mind, I kept an eye out for a .357 version, a less common model. I
found a really nice one in a Gunbroker.com auction that had been languishing. I
tossed what I thought was a silly bid on it and moved on. Amazingly, I got an
email a few days later stating that I had won the auction.

Being a .357 magnum, it also shoots .38 special as well, which is what I
typically shoot in it. I do so because it lets me shoot more rounds without
fatigue that if I shot .357. I also like to mix rounds as well, just for fun.
It’s a stainless steel model with a 6.5” barrel. I added a set of rosewood
grips from Altamont and it looks absolutely stunning with them.

Loads of fun to shoot and highly accurate. A great single action pistol.

Lots of fun. I have had one for a long time now
and love to shoot it. Though I thought it was a
Super Blackhawk in .44 magnum. Is that the same
thing? Kicks about like the Dragoon with 30 grains
of triple X in it.

On the contrary, if you face a boar with a muzzleloader, it would be
anything but boaring!  The boar would break your boredom immediately,
and of you are good, you'd have a slug boring into a boar.  However if
you are inaccurate, or unlucky, you may be gored by a boar.

If mama grizzle comes after you, what you have is a 454 Casul, and at that
moment what you "want" is a .50 Cal semi auto rifle and 500 yards of
distance.

Black bear scat has berries, grubs, and small rodent hair.
Grizzle bear scat has bear bells, tennis shoes, human bones, and smells
like bear spray and fear.

Dangerous game is not a game. There's a reason the African hunters of yore
always had a backup gun along, in the hands of a backup gunner. If it were me,
I would have that _and_ a very hefty short-ish revolver, and damn the laws.
Make the
primary weapon legal, and then do what you have to to ensure your life. Maybe
a nice
Bowie on the other hip? Or a bayonet on the rifle? A pig spear is probably a
bit impractical.

Marinade won't do much to tenderize. To make tough meat tender you cook it low
and slow.
Of course Randy is right, sausage is the way to go with a lot of it. I'd like
to take my buddy Jon (Owner of "The Butt Stops Here BBQ) a bunch of wild boar
roasts. He's an artist...
The guys I deer hunt with take the backstraps, then process some "stew meat"
and all the rest goes for sausage. Sometime in March we'll have "sausage day"
where everybody gets together to grind and process sausage.
They already think I'm crazy, I took deer ribs. They were tasty but the deer
tallow has lousy mouth feel. I'm told I need to "render the fat" out before
cooking the ribs. Need to investigate how to do that.

I've got a steel frame 1858 replica.
About 50 rounds fired, as new condition.
Friend of mine has a steel frame Colt and a brass frame Colt replica.
The brass frame replica is much looser than the Colt, despite being over 100
years newer.
I'm not afraid of brass frame "Remingtons" but I've got no use for brass frame
"Colts".
The Colt frame is a weak design that works OK if it's made of good steel.

Having has experience in harvesting wild pig, IMHO, boar meat is no good,
nothing but gamey meat.
I only process sow pig meat. FWIW.

Experience also taught me to use a harvest weapon that quickly reloads and
that has first shot take down power, like a semi auto .308. Given the
option, with a big herd, something on the order of a full auto chain gun
would work best, from about 500 ft altitude, in a helicopter. would be my
system of choice for herd control.

That's why you have something substantial on your hip if the rifle

I shot my .54 muzzle loader yesterday, I was getting 3 shot groups in the
3/4" range at 50 yards off the bench with iron sights. Thats with
roundball, I have some conical bullets that I wanted to use but they were
all over, adequate for hunting I suppose but a 3" group doesn't excite me.
.530 roundball is 224 grains, I'm probably moving them in the 1000-1100 fps
range which is adequate for deer. For something that could hurt me I'd
probably hot them up a bit.
I nearly bought a mold for a 380 grain REAL (rifling engaged at loading)
bullet. Maybe I'll get one. I haven't measured but I think my rifle has
1:48 rifling and the relatively long bullet I've been using is probably
more appropriate for 1:60 guns. The REAL bullets highly rated by other
people using my model gun.

 From the article:

The population of wild boars in the area has significantly
increased in the last several years. To help control the
increasing population of wild boars, DNR has authorized
hunting during day and night of these animals with special
permit. Information about the growing wild boar problem and
recommendations for management and control is avaialble on
 DNR’s website.

Law enforcement agencies advise residents to remain vigilant
in taking steps to protect their animals and report any
 suspicious activity they may encounter.

So when are the lowland members of the Old Mercedes Rescue Association
going on a pig hunt? :-)

P.S. Looking at Google Maps, Greenville and Spartanburg counties are
right up against the border of North Carolina. I wonder how far
they range into North Carolina ...
