Wind and wave power aren't so predictable. There's no way you can pick up a calendar and say 'peak wind power will be at 3pm on August 15th', but you should be able to make plans like that with tidal power. This sort of stuff is exactly what the banned-lite list was made for. What year did B-L last have a new message posted to it? 400MW sounds like a lot, but I figure it's roughly 10A per household. What is that, one blow drier and a tea kettle per? This would be a good solution in conjunction with a pumped storage hydro plant like Northfield Mountain here in MA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northfield_Mountainuse your regularly occurring power to charge your standby plant. I wonder if you could use something like that to run a desalination plant somewhere? Its sure set to make a crapload of power. -Curt From: Mitch Haley via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com To: Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Sent: Tuesday, January 6, 2015 10:19 AM Subject: Re: [MBZ] TOT (totally off topic) Amazing tidal power project in Scotland Interesting graphic. G: If the name was changed to something like Off Topic and the same restrictions current on the Mercedes list were applied, then more submissions would be posted there. Several people have said that the profanity and other objectionable content was the reason they did read that list.
