Shoot some Fluid Film on it from the backside, maybe that'll help prevent some rust. I've found Fluid Film (or Wool Wax which is pretty much the same stuff) to be pretty handy to have around. It does smell like sheep for a couple days but thats a pretty small price to pay I think. -Curt On Friday, May 29, 2020, 8:52:39 PM EDT, Dimitri Seretakis via Mercedes wrote: I replaced the grille on my (formerly Dwight’s) 300D 2.5 Turbo with an aftermarket uro grill made in Taiwan ( I know, I know, could not justify $700 for OE if it exists even). So why didn't either of you buy a good used OE grille? Re: [MBZ] URO w124 grille
To be honest, the fit is not terrible, better than the one on my w123. The biggest issue I have with these grilles is that they rust. This car will be driven in the winter so it could be a problem, whereas the w123 never sees salt so much less of an issue. Re: [MBZ] URO w124 grille
I must confess that I bought one of their W124 grilles in an effort to be frugal a few years ago when I had the 93 400E. It never made it on the car, I tossed it. The badge opening was not punched out properly as yours, and the angle of the grille from the centerline was not correct, either, so it didn’t match the hood line properly, either. Live and learn, I guess. It just confirmed that everything they make is garbage. I’ve learned my lesson. I totally understand your position, though. Better an ill fitting grille frame than none at all. -D On May 29, 2020, at 8:51 PM, Dimitri Seretakis via Mercedes wrote: > > I replaced the grille on my (formerly Dwight’s) 300D 2.5 Turbo with an > aftermarket uro grill made in Taiwan ( I know, I know, could not justify $700 > for OE if it exists even).
