And yet you are bitching to one and all that a company that you have no
relationship with isn't willing to spend money on you.

This does not compute, somehow.

BT Wrong! [I figgered woger would try to inflate himself
with this topic.]

I have a long history and relationship with MB in the USA, whether
MBNA or MBUSA. Each stealership is an independent business. I have
no relationship with most of them. There is one dealer in CA and one
dealer in VA that I will do business with. Every year I buy hundreds
or thousands of $$ worth of parts from MB, if directly from dealers
or via Rusty. I have purchased just about every major part from
dealers including heads, complete short blocks, suspension and lot of
body parts.

I have had valued friendships with highly placed MBNA folks. This is
a decision by MBUSA to cheap out. It has nothing to do with the many
independent stealerships that I refuse to give my business to, if by
distrust or by distance.

The MB Roadside Assistance was a Class program from a company that
used to be very classy. Now it is just a gimmick to try to drag
unwilling/unsuspecting owners into a stealership to be ripped off.
Recall that many on this list have had stealers try to charge 3-4
times list for genuine MB parts.

That's kind of the impression I got when I read of the service on the back
of a recent sales brochure. It was kind of, we'll get you on your way with
the really simple stuff, or give you a tow to the dealer. If they pick up
the bill for your hotel room one night, I'm guessing most repair bills
sufficient to cover that cost, and see them with a bit (or a lot) of money
in their pockets. hee hee

Again, I have not problem with a company making money, but I'm not sure just
how much of a favour roadside assist would really be to me. I'm not sure
I could afford the free help.
