Back in the 1980s, my brother used to say if it's worth having, it'll cost four digits. My $200 Honda Civic and $435 Chevy Citation were the exceptions to that rule, and the Honda was even reasonably good looking when I bought it (but the transmission was on the way out). Anybody want a rare stick shift 2007 Saturn Ion2, everything works, last year of production? My 90hp 1980 Citation could still smoke the front tires at 208,000 miles in 1989 when the 1-2 shift fork finally broke and the car was too rusty to be worth a day's work pulling the transmission out. Used whatever oil and filters Firestone put in it for the first 145k, whatever was on sale the cheapest after I bought it. Since then I expect engines to last the life of the car, especially with fuel injection. I don't think thats a crack price, its hard to find anything running/driving for under $2000 anymore.
