Well...yeah! A modern firearm in decent condition doesn't fire without a trigger pull. If the weapon was one he was authorized to carry (whether personally owned or government issued) it would have been checked by someone competent as a part of the authorization. This injury was caused by multiple judgment errors by this fool. Yet another black eye for the FBI. No trigger discipline, at least not when drunk and out clubbing. Another problem, as Gerry mentioned, was lack of a proper retention holster, or possibly no holster at all. My problem with the proper authorities is they didn't book him, they just hauled him off to the cop shop and called his boss to come get him. Should have been booked and held over the weekend for arraignment this morning, same as I would have gotten if I'd put a negligent discharge into somebody's leg at a bar/nightclub. I've been following this episode via other links, same cam video. My take away on the event is it is a stack of errors on the agents part. First question [unanswered at this point] is "Was he consuming alcohol?".. if he was, having a concealed weapon, in a bar, and drinking, is a felony. If he was not drinking, he was not acting in a situational responsible way to carry a firearm. 1. He failed to retain the weapon. 2. He failed the first rule of gun handling, which is, NEVER place your finger on the trigger until you intend to discharge the weapon and have cleared everything down range of the discharge, ie. clear path to the intended target and beyond. 3. He failed to observe situational awareness, by "showing off" in front of the crowd, while armed, in such a way to lose control of his weapon.. Certainly, not something taught at FBI Agent school, and unlikely to be part of Agent Protocol. My assessment is, He should find new work. perhaps at Starbucks, where they will give him sensitivity training[Where he can have bathroom privileges with other homeless, mentally unstable, unemployed, and substance abuse persona. ] As for myself, I'm hoping to see his "Career Exit Interview" on the next video. Re: [MBZ] A question maybe poos can help with
Plastics [of all sorts] are the by-product of crude oil distillation process. Over time, and UV exposure, plastics degrade. As they degrade, they gas of various chemical components, some of which are "oil like" and some which are "solvent like". Either substance breaks the bond of the glue used to hold them in place. Also, the "layer of contaminant" make a re-bond with fresh glue less likely. So... finding a way to clean the "old plastic contaminated surface" to get a fresh bond joint becomes more difficult. Just my observation, from past attempts. [MBZ] Missing titles
Anybody heard of this method for getting a title to an old car that you may not have a title to? This seems like a much easier and cheaper alternative to trying to get one thru Oklahoma for example, or if a car has been off the road for many years, and if it is titled in the state of OK for example, even if I don't date the title until I am ready to transfer it, if the registration is expired they charge penalties for the last 2 years. It can amount to $2-300 or more in penalties in some cases. In the cases where I have idiot sellers of long term projects who insist on dating the title, if its been several years till I get ready to register it, with the new sales tax we now have on cars, that does not cap out, it accrues about I believe $1.25 per day. Penalty on registration and title transfer accrues at $1 per day each after 30 days and caps out at $100 ($200) total. I seem to recall being told the sales tax portion keeps on accruing. http://www.titlerecovery.com/ This website says $49, but it looks to me like you may have to pay the tax on the value of the vehicle, which is still probably cheaper than using one of those online title service deals. --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] New lawn tractor?
The low end big box John Deeres are an abomination to the John Deere name, I think. Just about any of the big box retailer tractors are junky, so I don’t think it really matters. I would go low end, like a Murphy, and just use it until it pukes. Walk behinds are the same way. I got tired of going through the $200 self propelled walk behinds every 3-5 years so when I bought my current home I went to the local Honda power equipment dealer and bought a really nice Honda walk behind. It cost exactly the same as what it would have at Home Despot, only these guys took the time to go over the operation with me and answer any questions I had. I can carry it in and they can repair it within a week if I need to. That was seven years ago. I just finished cutting my grass a little while ago with it. Other than gas and regular oil changes, the only thing I’ve done to it was put a new set of blades on it a few years ago. And you can imagine how brutal we are on lawn mowers down here - that’s a year round thing. -D > On Jun 4, 2018, at 7:03 PM, Dimitri via Mercedes > wrote: > > I need a lawn tractor to cut lawn on my 2/3 acre property in Maine. Re: [MBZ] New lawn tractor?
Anything under $2k is going to be an MTD at heart. Save money and buy one at the local big-box store. We've got a $1000 17hp Craftsman at camp that we've beat the ever loving snot out of, it takes it and just keeps going. I actually broke the deck when I found a potato fork (think big, many tined pitch fork) that was hiding in some grass. I fixed it with a big washer and moved on. I forget how long we've had the thing, 5 or 6 years I'd guess. I change the oil every year and it just keeps going.Dad has a $1000 Troy Built he got at Lowes that is EXACTLY the same tractor, my uncle Guy has a $1000 Bolens, exactly the same tractor. AFAIK the $1000 JD is exactly the same. Check out Mustie1 on Youtube, he's in seacoast NH somewhere, if he doesn't have one for sale right now he will soon. Tell him what you're looking for and maybe he can come up with one. Alternately look around for a cheap mower that doesn't run or requires choke to run, clean the carb and pull Mustie's trick yourself. Alternately get a Snapper rear engine rider and never buy another mower again. Mine is from 1965, on its third engine and I don't see every having to buy anything different... -Curt On Monday, June 4, 2018, 7:03:46 PM EDT, Dimitri via Mercedes wrote: I need a lawn tractor to cut lawn on my 2/3 acre property in Maine. [MBZ] 190D clutch pedal switch, cruise control
I removed the drivers side under dash cover to hunt for the cruise control amp since the cruise control does not work, does not engage at all. I then discovered its mounted under a cover under the passenger side carpet. I sure wish the other models had it here. Anyway. when I pulled the under dash cover, I discovered a switch on the clutch pedal that the top part of the switch had detached itself from the plunger part of the switch. So the 2 prong harness from the car plugs into the plastic part of the switch. The plastic part of the switch was just hanging loose so I don't think anything in the switch is contacting. So what does this switch do? I am thinking it disconnects the cruise control when the pedal is pushed in? If this is the case, if the switch is fubar, maybe that would explain why the cruise is not working? Or would this just cause it to not kick the cruise out when the pedal is pushed? I have already pulled the amp apart in prep to replace the caps etc, but I think if this switch is part of the system I should replace it first then test the cruise again.

Yes, there's a clutch disengagement switch.
