not an attorney, but my opinion FWIW:
IN light of other goings on in our "society" I'd say one frustrated liar 
talking to another liar.    Hook has a paucity of adjectives in his 
vocabulary.

But I still like the quote of a guy I went to high school with , who ran

Last time I checked about a year ago they had one 
that would fit in the smaller diff housing on my 
123 TD. The problem was they couldn't tell me 
which ring and pinion setup I would need to match 
it and fit to the diff.  Given the over $2500 
price I didn't want to order one and then have to 
order and buy possibly all three or so of the 
rings to find out which one would work. If I knew 
someone in a good diff rebuilding place that would 
at least let me borrow the rings to try or whom I 
could trust to do the job right then I might 
revisit the idea.

open, looks like I can take off the cover on the back of the lid and 
then grab the latch release thing and open it that way.

A wavetrac is about 1250, plus bearings and seals. Finding a good rear end
shop to do it cheap is a challenge in LA. I swapped it myself and the
original shims seemed to give the proper gear lash and mesh pattern. But
they are only avail for w124 afaik.

[MBZ] Getting on a cruise

We are in Galveston getting ready to get on a cruise and I discovered I forgot 
the passports. I was not too worried as you don’t have to have a passport for a 
cruise. What I did forget is OK does not have the new real ID thing yet so in 
addition to DL you have to have birth certificate. Crap. Luckily the kid is 
home and is emailing us copies. I still do not like the idea of being out of 
the country without it in case we have to make an emergency flight home. It 
also takes a lot longer to get back thru customs without a passport on the way 
back.

[MBZ] Decent mileage

Last week I drove my new '95 E300 about 1600 miles. First two tanks returned 32 
mpg, the last tank was 36.9 mpg, but only 284 miles. Overall average was about 
32.8.
 
This was mostly driving in cold weather, with a small amount of city traffic 
around WDC and the city of brotherly love.

What line?

I've never been on a Caribbean cruise, only Alaska, Bermuda, and Across the 
pond twice. The Atlantic crossings on QE2 were the ideal cruising lifestyle 
IMO. And the inside passage was amazing for the views and comfort. The Atlantic 
can be rough even for an actual ocean liner like QE2 as opposed to a floating 
hotel.

home and is emailing us copies. I still do not like the idea of being out of 
the country without it in case we have to make an emergency flight home. It 
also takes a lot longer to get back thru customs without a passport on the way 
back.

Not me ever, either.

We have both Carnival and one of the other WalMart cruise lines go out of the 
port of Tampa. I watch them come in to the port from my office window, that’s 
cool to watch. However, I have no desire whatsoever to go on one.

Now maybe, just maybe, a Viking river cruise on one of the major European 
rivers. Those are supposed to be really, really nice. Pricey, but well worth it 
I’m told.

In the interest of full disclosure I went on a cruise on my honeymoon, but it 
was on a now defunct Greek line call “Costa” which was very nice. Understand 
that this was in 1980 when the average cruise passenger was an old lady of 
maybe 65-70 years of age and you packed evening wear. The ship was relatively 
small, like under 500 passengers, but it was a nice way to travel. We learned a 
valuable lesson on that cruise - don’t bother popping for a suite. We got one 
of four suites on the ship, and I use the term “suite” lightly. However, 
because we had a suite we were on one of the higher decks which was nice, and 
we had our own cabin boy.

Due to the demographics of the times we were two of the few people on the ship 
younger that 60, so we were a bit of a novelty. Got to have dinner at the 
captain’s table one night because of it, though. Nice guy, crappy way to make a 
living, I thought, but all the good (Italian) food you could eat, so maybe that 
had some value.

Still wasn’t that impressed. I drank more than than I do now, but didn’t care 
to gamble, so there wasn’t much to do onboard outside of honeymoon activities….

I'd go on the yurp river or canal boats in a flash.  The Delta 
Queen/Mississippi queen etc would be great too.   Or any private 
boat/ship.   But no floating disease emporium that looks like the Kona 
Surf hotel.


Just got back from the Christmas boat parade.   In Hawaii Santa comes in 
a red canoe, but here he comes in a houseboat type thing.  THis one has 
BIG multi million dollar boats


The one boat I was on  looked like a real ocean liner, and was built in 
the 50s on a WWII aircraft carrier keel that was laid but not completed.

Back in the day at the indy PnP, the crew would only drain fluids and set the 
car.  When I was in the throes of the addiction, I got to the yards at the 
crack of the front door and a few other crack heads like me would wait for the 
cars to be placed.  Best I found were some 9mm and other rounds.  One fellow 
got into a car and came back with a 1911.  Not a car part, so the yard was not 
interested in charging for it.  

Then the yard was sold to greedy major steel corporation out west and they 
would scrounge as much out of it prior to placing the car so they had items for 
sale inside.  They also nickel and dime you on parts of parts, (ie) full break 
down of an axle, where used to be you purchased the thing as a whole instead of 
accounting for all that went into it
