I use Osmand on my phone all the time when trail running.
Osmand can also display the OSMC tags for hiking / cycling routes.

On Linux, have a look into Viking:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/viking/
It can display, edit and create GPX data and display geo tagged images.
I use it for planing my routes before and analyzing my run afterwards.

Probably all you need is
https://cycling.waymarkedtrails.org/
or
https://mtb.waymarkedtrails.org/

The already mentioned http://www.opencyclemap.org/
is basically the same as http://www.openstreetmap.org/
with the cycle layer: Go to the OSM, click on the icon to the right that
looks like a stack of paper sheets. Select cycle map.

To get more detailed information of an OSM item click on the ? icon to
the right and then on the item on the map. Select the item from the list
on the left, that pops up after clicking on the map.

[Merkaartor] Merkaartor on MacOS

Hi.

Just a short notice: I managed to compile the latest Merkaartor from
GIT QT5 branch on MacOS X 10.9. I pulled in the dependencies by the
help of MacPorts. (QT 5.3.2, PROJ 4.9.1 and GDAL 1.11.2) The only
issue was a missing src/revision.h. Though, within a few mouse clicks
it threw a core dump on me. Fortunately it run well at the second try.

I got similar errors, IIRC. The problem was, IIRC, that I edited a way
that was not entirely in the view area of Merkaartor. I.e. Merkaartor
did not download all nodes of the way. Zoom / pan, download more to
get the entire way and doing the edit again solved the problem.

It can take from one hour to several days until the OSM tiles are rerendered.

 - How can I check, that upload was successfull?
Merkaartor will display a dialog box with an error message if the upload was
not successfull.

 - After how much time can I see the changes I mande on OSM or at least at
 Potlatch?
Don't know potlach. If you close and reopen Merkaartor and download the area
you just modified, you will see the changes immediately.

 1) Provide me with their computer/OS specs
NetBSD/i386 (i.e. 32 bit) 5.0_STABLE from July 2009, X.Org 1.4.2,
qt4-4.5.1. Dual core Athlon 2.6 GHz with 4 GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 3450.

 2) Try to create a reproducible, step-by-step test case, please...
Unfortunately I was not able to find a real pattern. It happens
preferably near nodes and I am completely unable to select a single
node at all. I.e. if there is a track with multiple nodes close to each
other I can't select anything. If I zoom in it starts to work. A
residental road needs to be about the same with as the mouse pointer
to make it work.
