https with MetaCard?

1999-10-26 Thread Geoff Canyon

I know it's possible to do http very straightforwardly with MetaCard.
What about secure sockets layer? Is this something that:

Is already in MetaCard, and I just missed it.
Is not in MetaCard, but could be done with sockets in 2.3.
Is not in MetaCard, but will be in some future version, in an easier way
than through sockets.
None of the above.

Thanks

Most likely #2: You could do it with sockets, and it's not likely that
we'll be building this into the engine. #2 doesn't necessarily have
to be hard except of course for the first person to do it. We're
hoping that implementations of all the important protocols will be
available freely and supported via an open-source process. MetaCard
Corporation will certainly participate in this effort (even including
funding in cases where that's the only way it will get done), but
we're on the lookout for people to take on the job of organizing the
implementation and maintenance of scripts to support their favorite
protocol.

Scott
