[meteorite-list] Waypoint symbol for meteorite find now ready
Hello all I have now made a waypointsymbol for a meteorite find to use in your GPS. I have put it into mine and it looks fine, instead of a red dot :-) I am willing to share it with all of you if any of you wish such a symbol. Let me know if you want it. [meteorite-list] Help, what is this?
Hello List, I found a rock that was 100% covered in what looked like brown crust. It looked like a meteorite, but a magnet would stick to a piece of glass before it would stick to this rock. It has a little caliche on it too. The first pic shows the color of the crust and the window I made. The second pic shows a close up of the crust but I could not get the brown color to show up. The matrix is dark gray, almost black. It has some white little lines (see third pic) that look like feldspar (?) but then I thought of augite and pigeonite crystals that are found in some meteorites, so It also has a few inclusions that can be seen in the forth pic. What do you all think, back to the meteorwrong pile, or worth a further look? http://www.geocities.com/alosthawker/MVC-011S.JPG http://www.geocities.com/alosthawker/MVC-022S.JPG http://www.geocities.com/alosthawker/mvc-014s.jpg http://www.geocities.com/alosthawker/mvc-017s.jpg Thanks, Tom peregrineflier IMCA 6168 http://www.frontiernet.net/~peregrineflier/Peregrineflier.htm __ Meteorite-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
[meteorite-list] Help, what is this? 2
Hello List, here is one more picture showing what looks to me like a crust. The crust is the only reason I wonder about this rock. http://www.geocities.com/alosthawker/MVC-023S.JPG Thanks, Tom peregrineflier IMCA 6168 http://www.frontiernet.net/~peregrineflier/Peregrineflier.htm __ Meteorite-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
[meteorite-list] Help, what is this?
Tom, Although they say a picture worth a thousand words, telling us where you found it would be useful. After all, finding it it the middle of Kansas would be more significant than finding it in the middle of the rocky mountains!! [meteorite-list] OT: blank e-mails from LIst
John, Thanks so much for your tip about plain text. I haven't been able to post to the list for so long (with one exception). I will keep my fingers crossed that the problem is solved. Mike Fowler Chicago Hello Mike and Tracy. Remember to always convert you email to plain text before you send it to the list. The list server will not accept html formatted emails and your email will disappear into the ether if you send one in a format other than plain text. [meteorite-list] Update on what is this
Hello List, I am not trying to prove this rock a meteorite, I am more trying to figure out if it belongs on the other side of my fence with all my other meteorwrongs. : ) But, I made a second window in it and found a tiny black line that runs through it, right through two of the white feldspar looking inclusions. This makes me think of shock, so I will not toss it over the fence yet. Thanks, Tom peregrineflier IMCA 6168 http://www.frontiernet.net/~peregrineflier/Peregrineflier.htm __ Meteorite-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
[meteorite-list] Picture of shock
Hey list, last pic, I promise. This picture shows the line that looks like shock to me. The tiny and shiny black line runs from the bottom left of the picture and up and to the left. You can see that it runs right through two of the white inclusions. If you follow it up, you can see it in the crust as well (as a line). Does this look like shock to you? http://www.geocities.com/alosthawker/MVC-030S.JPG Thanks, Tom peregrineflier IMCA 6168 http://www.frontiernet.net/~peregrineflier/Peregrineflier.htm __ Meteorite-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
