[meteorite-list] Who knows the H6 Chondrite from Cometshopnew?
Hello list, i bought in the last year (march) a 530 gram slice of a H6 chondrite from ebay for 50 dollars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eE8xWO8P4o It is a very fresh vaccuolar H6 Chondrite. The seller told, that the NWA number would come soon, but he did'nt answer anymore. So i tryed to search in the internet for the one, who sold the meteorite to my seller. After long search i found my sample. http://www.cometshopnew.com/h6.html It is exactly the piece in the top photo. My seller had reworked and polished the surface because especially the backside had strong cutting mistakes like deep saw holes due cuts in different angles. Pictures of these mistakes were last year visible on the cometshop website, because they have sold this piece there. The surface is after the polishing still curved to save a maximum of the mass. I found also the ebay auction, where they have sold the piece. The became also not much money for this meteorite. My seller had probably thought, that he could make fast money with the reworking and selling. I sent then a request for information and the NWA-Number to the cometshopnew team. But i never became a answer. 1 Month later i sent another mail. And i sent even a 3rd mail 2 weeks ago. No reply to any of the mails. Did i something wrong or dont they reply if it not sells? Or are they all just frustrated about their bad ebay result? I really dont like such behavior! So i must now ask here for help. This piece is one of my best meteorites and by far my largest meteorite (i dont have much money) and i dont wanna leave it nameless. Have you bought a piece of this H6 chonrite and would you send me the number if you get it from the cometshop team? Has someone already the number? Does anyone know more about this meteorite? Hi Alexander. The IMCA membership numbers that are listed on the Comet Meteorite Shop Website are as follows: 3948-Dmitry Sadilenco 5051-Sergey Afanasyev You can find these IMCA membership numbers by going to the IMCA Website at: http://imca.cc/ You can then email them through the IMCA Website and see if that gets you any results. You may also try and contact the IMCA to inquire about these 2 members and the issue you are having and maybe the IMCA can speed up your concerns. Hope this helps. Re: [meteorite-list] New Met Bulletin Approvals - new Czech meteorites
Aloha Jan, From just a cursory glance at the metbull entry for Benesov (a), I would surmise a reason for the non-fall classification is due to the fact that much time had elapsed from the witnessed fireball on May 7, 1991 and the actual recovery of material on April 9, 2011. Because almost twenty years had passed, there can be no assurance that the recovered pieces are associated with the witnessed sightings. Additionally, Benesov (a) is an LL3.5 and Benesov (b) is an H5 and were found on the same day 250m apart, both with a weathering grade of W3. Characteristics are Weathered fragments lacking fusion crust. The meteorites resemble the terrestrial stones and slag found in the field. To me, this implies that the recovered pieces have a terrestrial age greater than 20 years. gary On Feb 21, 2012, at 6:18 AM, Jan Woreczko - www.meteoritica.eu wrote: Ha Why are these findings are not classified as a falls?
