Ruben,

Can't be very dense then. Looks to be around 2mm diameter, and assuming
spherical at that dimension would be a density of 0.239 g/cc.
Are you sure it doesn't weigh 0.01 grams?

[meteorite-list] MAVEN Update - February 26, 2014

2014-02-26 Thread Ron Baalke

https://www.facebook.com/MAVEN2Mars

MAVEN Status Update: Feb. 26, 2014

On Feb. 19 the MAVEN team successfully completed initial post-launch power-on
and checkout of the Electra Ultra High Frequency Transceiver (shown here).
This completes the initial checkout of all payloads on the MAVEN spacecraft,
with everything performing as expected.

The MAVEN Electra payload is part of the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration - NASA Mars Exploration Program's Mars Relay Network. This
network is composed of orbiters, including NASA's 2001 Mars Odyssey and
Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, that provide reliable, high-data-rate relay
communications links to landers on the surface of Mars, including NASA's
Curiosity Mars Rover and MER Opportunity, greatly increasing science data
return from the Martian surface. MAVEN will be available to provide relay
services on a contingency basis during its prime science mission and will
routinely provide relay support during an anticipated extended mission.

MAVEN's Electra payload is provided and operated by NASA's Jet Propulsion
Laboratory.

[meteorite-list] MRO HiRISE Images - February 26, 2014

2014-02-26 Thread Ron Baalke

MARS RECONNAISSANCE ORBITER HIRISE IMAGES
February 26, 2014

o Equatorial Gullies
  http://hirise.lpl.arizona.edu/ESP_034864_1825

Gully-like landforms, or ravines, are most common in the middle
latitudes of Mars, but also occur in polar and equatorial latitudes.

o Frost in Dune Shadows
  http://hirise.lpl.arizona.edu/ESP_034922_1385

The low sun angle creates large shadows from these dunes, making for
  a dramatic picture.

o Dunes Streaming through Hills
  http://hirise.lpl.arizona.edu/ESP_034948_1720

This dramatic image show dark rippled bodies of sand, sometimes in the
form of dunes, streaming through Ganges Chasma.

o Craters in an Icy Surface
  http://hirise.lpl.arizona.edu/ESP_035189_2240

The crater in the center of this image is unusual because there is a wide,
flat bench between the outer rim and the inner section, making it appear
  somewhat like a bullseye.

All of the HiRISE images are archived here:

http://hirise.lpl.arizona.edu/

Information about the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter is
online at http://www.nasa.gov/mro. The mission is
managed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division
of the California Institute of Technology, for the NASA
Science Mission Directorate, Washington, D.C. Lockheed
Martin Space Systems, of Denver, is the prime contractor
and built the spacecraft. HiRISE is operated by the
University of Arizona. Ball Aerospace and Technologies
Corp., of Boulder, Colo., built the HiRISE instrument.
