Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike!!!

Mike on Wednesday, June 06, 2007:

I have recently found the new main mass of Glorieta. It weighs
300 pounds there are no olivines present on the surface however
some believe the mass is too big to be just iron.

... and Mike is a big, strong man who does not give up easily!

God bless,

 Hi all,

I stopped by to see our friend Mike Miller today at the hospital
 (KRMC) in Kingman, AZ.

He's completely sedated and on a breathing machine. I was told that
he's been in ICU for a few days and that doctors are somewhat baffled
as to what has happened. Something is causing fluid build up in his
lungs that is making it impossible for him to breathe unassisted. He
entered the hospital on Wednesday evening due to pains in his chest
and back but within hours had to be put on a ventilator to breathe.

Mikes daughters (Ashley, and Melissa) work for him and will be
checking his email. If you'd like to wish Mike well I'm sure he'd
appreciate it. Here is his email. meteoritefin...@gmail.com

[meteorite-list] AD - Interesting Auctions Ending In A Few Hours

2014-05-20 Thread Raremeteorites via Meteorite-list

Dear List Members,

I have some interesting auctions ending tonight. I only have two sets of
meteorite auctions ending after this so if there is something you want, now
would be the time to bid. My last set of auctions are due to end June 3rd.
I still have a few meteorites in my store so if you have any interest, now
is the time to make offers.I also have some off-topic items ending like
ultra-rare Mayan Flying Saucer beads and an effigy ending with no reserve
as well.

Somebody asked if I will be liquidating my meteorite cutting/polishing
equipment. The answer is yes. I will put them up for sale this coming Fall
along with any other odds and ends I find in the up and coming months. I
will keep only one saw so when our team finds the first North American
Lunar, we can take a peek inside ; ).

Please take a look if you can spare a few moments.

Link to all auctions:

Thank you for looking and if you are bidding, good luck,

[meteorite-list] Prices for SouthWest Dry Lake Finds???

2014-05-20 Thread Jim Wooddell via Meteorite-list

Hi all,

I am curious as to what the consensus is on the prices of Dry Lake
Meteorite finds are worth on the market. I am not talking about little
bitty finds in the under 5 gram range, I am talking

finds that weigh at least 20 grams up to 1kg.

I am really interested in current and past prices of the following
places within known DCA's in particular:

Coyote Dry Lake

Stewart Valley Dry Lake

Yelland Dry Lake

Tule Valley Dry Lake

Re: [meteorite-list] Prices for SouthWest Dry Lake Finds???

2014-05-20 Thread Raremeteorites via Meteorite-list

Hi Jim and All,

Unless they predate 1972, meteorites found on public land cannot be used for
commercial purposes according to the BLM interpretations rendering them
without commercial value. This is even before the new laws limited
meteorite recoveries to 10 pounds a year or less without a commercial
permit. The interesting thing is not a single commercial permit has ever
been issued despite being applied for.

Sorry for the bad news,

That is why it so important to treat private land owners with the utmost
respect in order to gain access to unrestricted search areas.

Re: [meteorite-list] Prices for SouthWest Dry Lake Finds???

2014-05-20 Thread Raremeteorites via Meteorite-list
One more thing I forgot to add. If a BLM agent in the field asks, How much
are they worth?. The proper response would be, The scientific value is
variable but they carry no commercial value whatsoever. You may think this
is an odd thing for me to state but on more than one occasion, our hunting
groups have been asked this very question when we stated we were looking for
meteorites. An agent in Pahrump went as far as separating our group and
asking hunters individually hopefully trying to trap somebody in to
admitting that they have or would be sold.

It is a trick to get you to say, they are worth so much a gram. The very
next question would be, How do you know this, have you sold any? Keep in
mind how artifact collectors are now being treated. If they cannot prove
provenance, entire collections have been confiscated recently. In other
words, the prevailing BLM wisdom is that you are, guilty until proven
innocent. Meteorites are now being treated as artifacts according to field
agents even though most carry no cultural significance whatsoever.
