[meteorite-list] We're Here | eegooblago in Tucson Room 282

2015-01-30 Thread Dustin Dickens via Meteorite-list
Hi All,

We're here! Room 282 Tucson Hotel, just above Michael Farmer's room.

eegooblago meteorites (Sean Tutorow and Co.) are indeed full steam
ahead at the 2015 Tucson show. The new material is here! Over 30 new
classifications including an LL 3.00, Ungrouped Achondrite,
Carbonaceous, Acopulcoite, Howardites, Eucrites, and so much more!

Sean will be at the Co Op with a full spread of the new material, NWA
8159 and some nice big iron.

Dustin and Felix will be at the Tucson Hotel (room 282) with another
full spread of all the new material, your old favorites and gorgeous
937g slice of Admire ready to move.

We invite all to stop by and say hi and have a look at the new stuff!

Have a great show,

space dust -

Re: [meteorite-list] Tucson pics?

2015-01-30 Thread Galactic Stone & Ironworks via Meteorite-list
For those who care to navigate the seas of social media, there are
tons of Tucson photos all over Facebook. More Tucson photos than you
can look at. John Humphries is posting some really good ones, as he
always does. Many of my rockhound friends are and they are posting
oodles of photos as well. :)

Best regards,

MikeG

It looks like only 9 meteorite vendors posted information on the Tuson
Information page so the show seems to be somewhat subdued this year;
probably a sign of the times. I decided not to attend this year for many
reasons. The only thing I will miss is the IMCA dinner and the Michael
Blood auction which no longer exists.

I would rather spend my hard earned funds from artifact sales on searching
for meteorites and other minerals.

Hopefully, some images of the IMCA dinner will be posted,

Aloha kakou,

New: a highly shocked feldspathic diogenite containing vesicles or vugs, which
are voids or bubbles in the stone that formed when a highly energetic event
involving the parent body in space melted the rock. In the opinion of the
analyzing scientist, this is one of the most highly shocked diogenites he has
studied. There are a few slices of various sizes on eBay that can be seen here:
0.09g part slice looks like Ibitira: http://tinyurl.com/mudu779

New: Individuals and frags from the June 8, 2014 fall near Zag, near Ber El
Hiran with GPS coordinates of 27°39'44 N 9°25'14 w. Specimens exhibit fresh
satiny fusion crust and by visual inspection and magnetic susceptibility,
appear to be an LL5 or LL6, with abundant troilite.
