[meteorite-list] Collection Liquidation
I'm a bit overwhelmed by the number of obviously serious inquires to my previous posting. It would not be practical for me to reply to each one individually, so [in the interests of efficiency, as well as my fingers...I am not a good typist] I am going to do so on-list. Allende Individual 396 grams$1500.00 Full slice 69 grams500.00 Full slice 40 grams275.00 Part slice 20 grams150.00 Bjurbole Fragment516 grams $2000.00 Crab Orchardp/s 66 grams $2500.00 EsquelPart slice 149 grams $2200.00 Gao Individual 687 grams $800.00 JilinPart slice 4 grams $ 20.00 Part slice 33 grams 150.00 Juanchenge Individual 125 grams $450.00 MillbillillieIndividual 74 grams $ 600.00 Individual149 grams 1200.00 Naryilco End piece 650 grams $2800.00 TuxtuacCrusted frag 309 grams $1800.00 PLUS two omissions from previous list: Canyon Diablo Graphite Nodule thick slice...near end piece. This was cut from an 8-pound nodule discovered in the late eighties. Most of the material from that nodule was unstable and has crumbled into powder and crumbs. But, just as some Brenham is as stable as Imilac, this piece has remained pristine for over a decade; no disintegration, and the metal as bright as the day it was polished. Also, this specimen has been prepared properly; the surfaces have been lapped, so the surface of the graphite and metal is flat and continuous. Top dollar here, but you could not hope to find a more stable, superior, or more attractive specimen; the lightning-like, veined distribution of the metal here is visually awesome. 254 grams $1500.00 Vaca MuertaEucrite inclusion These were extensively studied when first discovered, since, having been protected by the surrounding mesosiderite matrix during atmospheric passage, they retained their original archaic shapes. Complete individual, 116 grams $700.00 All the photos were taken with a borrowed camera, which was set for maximun image quality. Accordingly, these are large image files [about 460kb or so, and will be sent on an individual-specific basis, in the next day or so]. They will take a while to download [and quite a while for me to send; I am on old-fashioned dialup service], but you would need to be holding these in your hand to see better detail. I hope they will answer all questions, but if not, please email me and I will try. Preferred payment is by postal money order, also gets same day shipment; specimens sold on first-come, first served basis. Some trades may be considered, but I am really looking to pare the collection down a bit, not expand it [but don't be afraid to ask]. Thanks, everyone Bruce Wegmann __ Meteorite-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
[meteorite-list] Collection liquidation
Recent events require I clear out some items. As a long time collector [started in March of 1984], it pains me a bit to let some of these go... Pics and prices available on request. All these [except, of course , the ones that sell in the meantime], will be with me in Tucson [plan to to be there from the 5th to the 9th]. I hope some of these are a nice break from all the nameless NWAs... Allende Complete individual, well crusted, prominent skid mark 396 grams Full slice, from 1.3 kg stone, large fine-grained inclusion 69 grams Full slice, from 561 gram stone, many large chondrules 40 grams Part slice, fractured/repaired, 6mm troilite inclusion 29 grams Bjurbole Internal fragment, no crust, many large chondrules 516 grams Crab Orchard Part slice, triangular shape, two natural edges, AMNH cat number. Several large lithic inclusions, finely scattered metal, similar to Mincy. One of the prettiest and rarest of the North American mesosiderites 67 grams Esquel Part slice, one crusted edge, beautiful large transparent crystals, one sawn, one polished surface. 149 grams Gao Complete individual, 90% crust, one fractured edge, nice 687 grams Jilin Part slices, lots of metal 4 grams 33 grams Juanchenge Complete individual, 95% crust, very fresh 125 grams Millbillillie Complete individual, 98% crust, flow lines, nice 74 grams Complete individual, 95%+ crust, oriented, nice 149 grams NaryilcoEnd piece, beautiful light-dark lithology, crusted back shows several deep pits and prominent flow lines, suggesting oriented flight. Smallest of the 3 ends cuts from the original 27kg mass. Some permabond was applied at ASU when the cutting was done, as it was feared the piece might fracture during sawing. This is still visible in spots, not disfiguring [removable]. 650 grams Tuxtuac Crusted fragment, thin in comparison to its' length and depth, a classic case of what kind of damage a sledgehammer can do to a meteorite; still attractive...shows many nodules and a few veins of included troilite. 309 grams I can be reached most reliably before 11 AM PST any day. [meteorite-list] Meteorite ID Number
According to the Nininger Collection of Meteorites catalog, 1950, this is a specimen of Plainview. More than 225 numbered specimens are listed; unfortunately, this is not one of them...Nininger's numbers stop at 92.1060. __ Meteorite-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
