[meteorite-list] AD; Ebay Plus Huge Wholesale Lot of Meteorite Magnets
Hello List, I am putting some items up on Ebay this evening, most on Buy it now and a few with Best Offer options, so check if interested HERE: http://www.ebay.com/sch/arnoldmeteorites/m.html?_nkw=_armrs=1_ipg=_from= Also, I am considering wholesaling off ALL my meteorite magnets. For those of you that don't know, I used to have somewhere over 100 different Meteorite Magnets available for sale. For a few years they were a mainstay on Ebay as I could list just once, usually from 50 to 100 items in the lot, and then over the next year or two sales would trickle in. This method beats listing each one at a time which requires new photos and new weight on each listing. The direction we have taken is in having us focus on developing and marketing the larger Riker style shadow boxes rather than designing new smaller magnets, so we are open to considering wholesaling out our entire stock of magnets and specimens that are placed in boxes and glued to the magnets. I don't really know the total of the inventory at this time but we have inventory and supplies for thousands of units. I don't really know the scope of this offer, but if anyone would be seriously interested, I would lover to talk with you about what we have and what the cost would be. I would be open to selling out all of one location so the buyer could have an exclusive on that rock if someone didn't want or could not make a full purchase of all of them. There are multiple ways that is could pan out. The goal would be to sell them cheaply enough that the buyer would make a handsome profit for their purchase and time invested. [meteorite-list] AD: Caddo County, OK Killer IAB Silicated Iron
Hello List, I figure I should jump in here and get my one last free ad in while I can. I have some small part slices of Caddo County, Oklahoma available now. This is an amazing IAB silicated iron, unlike anything I have ever seen before. In fact when it first hit the market years ago it was thought it might have been a Lodranite. (That was back when lodranites were still grouped by some as a stony-iron due to their high metal content.) These part slices, while small, dramatically exhibit a fine Widmanstatten pattern. This is in stark comparison of other silicated irons we often see. Some of these have a larger iron portions while others have more silicates. I struggle to determine which I personally like best...they all, while different to some extent, look awesome. I have seen very little of this rare rock on the market, although in my early days in the meteorite business, this was one that would catch my attention in Bob Haag's Private Collection catalogs. While not as special maybe as a Lodranite (type wise) it definitely is prettier than any Lodranite I have seen. $18/g - $20/g Post card ID card comes with them at not cost, loaded in Riker Boxes $5.00 extra. $5.00 Shipping Check what I have here: http://s361.photobucket.com/user/stevearnoldpmh/library/Caddo%20County%202 Look for SOLD to appear in the descriptions under the photos as they sell. Steve, are you aware that slicing this meteorite is destroying 90% of the minerals and science value of it? It is an extremely rare meteorite and cutting does far more damage than breaking. We are having a 19 gram individual broken up in the UofA laboratory now and cutting was absolutely ruled out Due to the damage it would cause, even dry. While slice must be beautiful and I would love to see the pics, it should really not be done on this meteorite. Re: [meteorite-list] Fake Buddha Statue
List, So, I was visiting Robert Beauford today at this store here in wonderful Eureka Springs, where it is a bit rainy, but yet still a beautiful fall day, shopper abounding, and the leaves are turning on the hillsides around our quaint village. Robert read me the not quite completed draft of the response to my post (below) here on the list, mentioning why this piece was not a fake and I found his reply to be an amazingly poignant retort. A few minutes later he mentioned how now he had to decide if he will actually hit send or hit delete? I sincerely hope he sends it, because I was indeed wrong in my statement, and the topic deserves more discussion. I won't rehash all that Robert stated, as I hope he will send it and you all can read it in his words, but obviously, the work is a genuine meteorite and it is a genuine hand made work of art, thus not a fake meteorite piece of art. Now, the question is left as when was it made, and possibly who made it and where? When it made has nothing to do with it being a fake, unless of course someone is trying to pass it off as being something it isn't, and that does not seem to be the case. Anyway, I stand corrected on what I stated. My intention was to say that I felt there is no way it was 1,000 years old. Carry on... [meteorite-list] Major Announcement following Heritage Auction
To whom it may concern: In the past I have made certain comments and assertions to the effect that I do not have a 'personal collection' of meteorites etc. Rather I have maintained that all my meteorites I have are in my inventory for sale. Often this clarification has been used to show yet another difference between my fellow host of Meteorite Men Geoff Notkin and myself. Having just left an executive meeting with my wife regarding the successful sale of one of Geoff Notkin's Personal Collection meteorite specimens in the Oct. 14, 2012 Heritage Auction (specifically lot number 49110 found here: http://fineart.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=6089lotNo=49110 ) I do hereby announce that I am NOW starting the Steve Arnold Personal Meteorite Collection, items of which may periodically move into and out of said collection into various auctions (and other selling venues) in the future. :-) Thank you for your understanding in this major policy shift. [meteorite-list] AD: Gibeon Anvil Slices, update and new photos
Hey List, Just a quick notice, I do have a few more Gibeon Anvil slices up for sale at the $499 sale price (marked down from $900). I was able to re-polish them, re-etch them, get the acid in the cavities (squished regmaglypts) neutralized this time around, so it would stop over etching after I wanted it to stop. And these look AMAZING now. 100% improvement. They even took fairly good photos. But like most irons, they still look better in your hand as you can turn them to capture the light just right with them. [meteorite-list] My daughter Lauren is getting married in 2 weeks AD sale!
Hello List, Many of you have met my elder daughter Lauren In Tucson Show the several times she has been there with me over the years. Well, In just 2 weeks Lauren is getting married! I know, it is hard to believe, and that you all remember her when she was just this tall. Well, it is true, and her mother and I are very excited. And we wanted to take this opportunity toinvite ALL of you to... help us pay for it! I have some bills with the wedding still to pay for, andsome other non-wedding bills as well, and so I am very motivated to make somegreat deals this week. Up for negotiation are someof the following: Gibeon Anvil Slices. Reduced to $499. Originally Priced at $900, for a VERY LIMITED TIME, and for a LIMITED number of slices, I am reducing the price per slice to $499 each! Yes, you read that correctly. Just $499. If you didn't read my post to the list on Aug 7, I have copied at the bottom of this email AND the current issue of Meteorite Magazine has a great story about the specimen written by my wife Qynne. I will consider cutting one slice into halves or into 4 quarters if and only if I have all (two or four) parts spoken for, and the cost per half will be $299 and the cost per 1/4 will be $199. All slices are priced the same, no matter how thick or how big, as each slice tells the same story. Please ask for specific details. Photos can be seen here: http://s361.photobucket.com/albums/oo52/stevearnoldpmh/Gibeon%20Anvil%20Slices/ Gibeon Anvil Main Mass, 41kg. $410,000 OK, I am joking. I really don't know what it is worth, and not sure what I would sell it for, but I would entertain any offer that included at least a nice chunk of cash and possibly some trade material. Brenham Slices. Some large 20 inch wide 600g to 2.5 kg oriented full slices available and some part slices from the 351 kg oriented mass. Ask for details and prices. Ash Creek individuals and slices. I have a few Ash Creek individuals and huge full slices available and am willing to deeply discount them. Meteorite Magnets in large numbers at discounted prices., If anyone wants $500 worth or $1000 worth of the meteorite Magnets personally autographed by me that I sell on ebay,, I will sell in bulk at very deep discounts. These sell GREAT at shows where you set up and sell to live people. Meteorite Riker Sets in large numbers at discounted prices. I am selling these like crazy out of my retail store. Retail priced at $9.99 up to $49.99, depending on the rock and the weight, these items do GREAT. See here: http://s361.photobucket.com/albums/oo52/stevearnoldpmh/Riker%20Box%20Sets/ Caldwell Kansas slices or larger chunks, Ask. Fayetteville AR crumbs, Never on the market before, this fall happened just 3 miles from the University of Arkansas campus. I only have a couple of grams of crumbs. Go Hogs! Muonionalusta. 14.8 kg mass. Would chop in half or sell whole. Make offer. Once I get enough money for pressing matters, the sale will go off. If someone is really smart, I would not be surprised if someone would buy a big assortment of my Gibeon Anvil slices and the sale will be over before a lot of you even read this. But, who knows, if something interests you, check in with me just in case there is still time. Thanks. Amazingly rare, historically significant, and way off the Wow Chart!Gibeon is one of the largest strewnfields in the world, with hundreds of large and thousands of smaller sizes specimens found since science discovered it in 1836. However, it is impossible to know how many tons of this meteorite had been found and used for millennia before 1836 by the natives in and around the huge Gibeon Strewnfield. It makes perfect sense that as people would find hunks of iron laying around, that they would take hammer sized pieces, and make hammers out of them, and take anvil sized pieces, and make anvils out of them and take smaller sized pieces and forge tools such as hoes, scrapers, knives, and spear points etc., out of those.Until now, I am an not aware that any meteorite from Gibeon specimens to have shown any definite traces of being altered due to being hammered upon while being used as an anvil. Smaller pieces forged into thinner tools likely would have rusted away after a few hundred

of amazing. You can see the slices at Photobucket here: http://s361.photobucket.com/albums/oo52/stevearnoldpmh/Gibeon%20Anvil%20Slices/ As always, first come first served. Questions welcomed. Paypal is preferred, but I can take credit cards over the phone and checks through the mail. But be sure to reserve your slice before you pay. After cash sales are made in the first week, I may be open to entertaining some trades, but I might be a tad stingy on value because I really think these retail prices are VERY reasonable compared to many other so called retail prices some put on other meteorites. But if you have no cash, but have trade material, and are interested, at least let me know so I can get back with you shortly. Expect the largest slices to sell first. [meteorite-list] this time it is for good
A final hello list. I have decided once and for all to pull the plug on my meteorite endevors. At almost 58, it is time for me to move on to enjoy mine and my wife's time together with family and friends. I have owned many a rare meteorite in my 13 years. I have really enjoyed my time with some of the nicest people I have ever known. I will always be around if you need to email me or call me for what ever reason. I just will not surround myself with meteorites anymore. I have seen to many good people get divorced because of these things. I know they are an addiction but a beautiful hobby. Unfortunately they cost alot of $$$. And being out of work I just cannot collect the way I used to. I will go by the way of GEOFF CINTRON,MARK BOSTICK,JOHN GWILLIAM and just fade from everyone's mind. It has been a blast.8 tucson show's to my credit. Well over I guess $100 K of buying meteorites over 13 years. Of all the people I have met in this great hobby, BOB HAAG and BOB C. they have been the best to me and I'll miss them the most. But I'll miss everyone to whom I have be-friended. If a meteorite falls in my neck of the woods, I'll be there to help hunt.I will always have a place in my heart for these things from another world. As I get ready to celebrate my 14th wedding anniversary,I am truly blessed to have such a great wife. I want to wish everyone a truly blessed rest of your lives and may the hand of god be on you always. This will be final post. When ever we get together,we just have a blast. 2 hours of drinking ,eating and just plain bullshitting about life. Just a great time. Well yesterday I did not do much except say my good bye's mike farmer, dima and sergei ( DUBRO UTRO),moritz, jim strope and a few others. But in a real touching moment for me,DON SKIDMORE gave 4 meteorites as a gift.3 oriented gao's and a little bassi. That was so nice. Thanks don! And he had just bought them from mike farmer.Great guy! Well thats it from here. Another great show has come and gone alot of people still here, but alot are going home. [meteorite-list] TUCSON, DAY 3 HIGHLITES
Good day list. I got back from the auction after 12 am. 4 hours of this.To long for me. Well after getting up we went over to the inn suites and I met up with shawn alan and dave gheesling. I went over to see mike farmer and moritz and I started looking at 2 full bags of unclaeaned gao and cleaned gao.I actually found an 11 gram fragment with a low level impact crater.I never have seen that.I went back and forth to the other rooms and hanged out with ET,the JENKERSENS,HANS,and I met up with geoff notkin and talked a bit then I saw ann black making deals. So everything was in motion at the inn suites and a very busy day around here. Then around noon I went back up to the other side of the show and went back to the river park and the howard johnson's.At the H J I went and saw ALI HMANI and his son.He had this incredible new howardite which is just to die for. Both in slice and a full individual and it just got classified. I walked around there and got some really nice pics, especially of a 7 kilo endcut of NWA 5549 and a monster campo with a huge abalation cavity. 100 kilo's. After that I walked back over to the river park. On the way I saw jason phillips, rob wesel and mike bandli coming from that way. So everyone one was everywhere out and about. Then I went over to erich's and I hanged out and took some nice pics of some more of his material. After that I head back to the inn suites and had lunch with russ finney. Then I did not more hanging out at the suites .About 5 we went out for dinner and then we headed to the auction. Once we got there we planned our attack to see what we might bid on. NOTHING!!! I was not at all interested in anything and bob c. did not bid either, but a few nice items did go.Here are a few lots that sold.(LOT# 40, $200,LOT# #39 $190, LOT# 13 $15, LOT# 61 $330,LOT# 79 $185,LOT# 109, $2200 and so forth .Just t give you an idea. Alot of nice items went for very cheap. There was a 33 kilo oriented sikhote-alin there and no one bid on it,but I have an idea it will be sold today.Well that was it for me yesterday in a nut shell. Today it 's superbowl sunday. Fly day home! I have had a blast seeing everyone and meeting new people as well.I'll have a wrap up tomorrow after I get back home.Have a great day and I hope the giants kick the patriots ASS. -- Steve R. [meteorite-list] TUCSON, DAY TWO
Good evening list. After a hectic early morning,I finally got back to the show at about 9:30 am.We went over to inn suites and met up with rubin garcia where bob and rubin bought some more meteorites from another dealer. They both got some great deals.Of course after playing with my camera this morning,I accidently deleted all my pics from yesterday. But not to worry.I got even better ones today including a 5 kilo BENSOUR and a 10 KILO TAMDAGHT individuals.Again they will be posted all on facebook to those who are all my friends. Also I went to one of the russians rooms and they were selling some sweet looking oriented sikhote-alins for $2 a gram. After that I decided to take the 3 mile round trip to the rest of the show where I went and saw josh eisler of cosmic cutlery. He is selling piece's of NAMIBIA.A classified H4 stone chodrite that was found within the gibeon strewnfield.Only 1 kilo was found and they seem to have most of it for $2 a gram.He also has a nice 5 kilo GAO forsale along with some great gibeon slices. Then I went to go see the one of moroccans where jose usually has his campos and saw some great fusion crusted unclassed stones. While I was there,I ran into eric fisler, his dad,and jason snyder looking thru some cheap unclassed chondrites. Then I walked over to magic mountain and saw another great variety of sikhote-alins for only $1 a gram.Pretty low for these beauty's.S A 's are drying up quick. Then after that I went to go see eric and sylvia hiaderer at cosmic highway meteorites.Eric has some of the best meteorites that I ever seen coming out of his room. And as always both a great couple to help serve you. Then I walked back over to the ramada to see mike miller in room 131.Some outstanding material he has not only there but in rubin's room as well. After that I went to blaines room and met up with al lang, jason utas, and others.Great to see some great people. Then I walked back to the inn suites completeting my walk and had lunch with gary fujihara and don skidmore. From there I did a few more rounds meeting up with rob wesel, mike bandli and jason phillips.I also saw the meteorite men getting ready to do a skit for tonites bash.It was great to see geoff notkin after 2 years and congradulated him on a fine season 3 of met men so far.Later me and bob c. went to the onyx room and I had catfish,a side salad, and 2 sides for $10.Then people started to come in and I got some more great pics, where I finally saw darryl pitt, art elman, maria hass, and others I had not seen yet. Finally the bash got underway with DIMA, SERGEI,ANDRE PILSKI,MARIA HASS and a couple of others got awards.I got some great pics of that as well.Well I did alot more today,so tomorrow will be a lay down and take it easy day.I hope you like these reports as much as I like doing them. Its been a long day,so untill tomorrow,I'm calling it a nite.Onr final note,I saw jim strope and I saw his new new concord piece.TOTALLY AWESOME! Got some great piece of that as well. Now good night. -- Steve R.
