[meteorite-list] AD(?) Gary Foote Recovery Auction

2008-07-31 Thread Maria Haas

Hello Everyone,

My ISP had some intermittent issues yesterday afternoon from about 3:45 until
after 7:00pm, which complicates things when you have email-based auctions
closing. Despite the email issue, things went really well last night. The
remaining auction items end tonight. Please feel free to call in your bid to me
at 928-567-6558 if you're concerned that an email might not reach me in time.

These items end tonight (all times are Pacific):

7:00 World Of Meteorites From A To Z Poster
  7:15 Large Nininger Brick
  7:30 Nininger's SCIENCE Magazine - A Must See!
7:45 Holbrook Fragment From The Holy Grail
8:00 Tagish Lake Painting, Original Oil by Jerry Armstrong
  8:15 Carancas 0.10 Micro
8:30 NWA Oriented Shield With Frothy Bubbles
  8:45 NWA 4766 in a Mars box
  9:00 Carancas Roof Smasher Package
  9:15 Gao-Guenie Individual, 29.37 grams
  9:30 Lafayette Micro, 8mg
  9:45 Briscoe, 23 gram Slice
10:00 Homestead, Bilanga, Monze(!), SaU 001 Lot

See them all at www.meteoriteimpact.com/auctionitems.htm and what their current
bid amount is at www.meteoriteimpact.com/highbids.htm.

Thanks again for your participation and support!

Maria

[meteorite-list] AD(?) Gary Foote Recovery Auction - Update

2008-07-25 Thread Maria Haas

Hello Everyone,

In response to your feedback last night and today, I've made some significant
changes to the auction. I can't move all of the items to eBay for several
reasons but I did change the minimum starting bids to $1 on a bunch of items.
If that's part of why you aren't bidding, please take another look at what I
did at http://www.meteoriteimpact.com/footeauction.htm!

Please feel free to start the bidding on these items with just $1.00 !!

-- Small brick from the Nininger Museum at Meteor Crater (Do you have one of
these?) - http://www.meteoriteimpact.com/museumstone01.htm

 -- Carancas micro - 0.10 gram with a VISIBLE CLAST -
http://www.meteoriteimpact.com/Carancas0.10.htm

-- Lot of six meteorite publications -
http://www.meteoriteimpact.com/sixpublications.htm

-- Large brick from the Nininger Museum at Meteor Crater (It's sculpted!) -
http://www.meteoriteimpact.com/museumstone02.htm

-- Holbrook fragment from the HOLY GRAIL -
http://www.meteoriteimpact.com/Holbrook%20Holy%20Grail.htm

-- Carancas Micro - 0.08 grams with nice surface area for the weight (There
once was a fall near Bolivia...) -
http://www.meteoriteimpact.com/Carancas0.08.htm

-- NWA 869 Oriented shield with FROTHY BUBBLES -
http://www.meteoriteimpact.com/nwa869shield.htm

 -- Carancas ROOF-SMASHER Package -
http://www.meteoriteimpact.com/Carancas_roof.htm

Don't forget to check the high bids for each item at
http://www.meteoriteimpact.com/Highbids.htm It will be updated daily by 7:00pm
PST. When the bids really start coming in, it will be updated more than once a
day. I'll let you know when that happens. Oh, and don't forget to refresh the
high-bid page when you go back to it.

I made a mistake when I addressed my last email to the Met-List and the IMCA
list and I apologize for doing that. That Reply All button is wicked, isn't
it! :-)

Thank you very much for your kindness and support. Please feel free to contact
me with questions.

[meteorite-list] AD(?): Gary Foote Recovery Auction

2008-07-23 Thread Maria Haas

Hello Everyone,

I am still waiting for pictures of two items but that's not going to stop me
from starting what I'm calling a silent auction. Auctions for nine items will
start tonight at 7:00 PM PST and will run for seven days. The balance of the
items will start tomorrow at 7:00 PM PST and those auctions will also run for
seven days. Ending dates and times for each item can be found on each item's
respective page. The auction ending times are staggered by 15 minutes to allow
all bids to be recorded prior to the items closing. You'll see what I mean when
you visit the website and click on what you want to bid on:
http://meteoriteimpact.com/footeauction.htm.

Some really spectacular items have been donated:

 - An original oil on canvas depiction of the Tagish Lake fall by Jerry
Armstrong

 - A serial numbered Nininger/Canyon Diablo coin that is #9 of only 10 that
exist

 - A 167.2 Bassikounou fragment that has beautiful crust and the broken edge
shows the fresh interior and two impact melt areas

 - Two Carancas fragments -- one has a visible clast

 - A 91.2 gram Vaca Muerta individual

 - An oriented NWA 869 with frothy bubbles

 - The World of Metorites from A to Z poster by Sarah Kenndy of Jensen
Scientifics and Geoff Notkin

 - HH's copy of a SCIENCE magazine from 1961

 - Bricks from the Nininger Museum

 - NWA 4766 Mars box made by Chladni's Heirs

And there's even more than that! See everything at
http://meteoriteimpact.com/footeauction.htm

Bid on an item by email to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or by telephone to (928)
567-6558. All bids will be recorded in the order in which I receive them.
Telephone bids take priority over email bids so if you think there's a chance
your email bid won't make it to me by the close of the auction please call me.

Let's not forget why we're doing this. The purpose of this auction is to raise
money for our meteorite friends, Gary and C.J. Foote. Gary was diagnosed with
advanced-stage prostate cancer earlier this year. He had a prostatectomy in
April and has had several complications and an additional surgery since then.
Their family needs help to make it through this incredibly hard time so please
give generously by bidding on the items in our auction. This is one time where
anything you do, no matter how small, will help them.

Hopefully, all of your questions will be answered on the website but if you
have any others, please don't hesitate to contact me.

The website will be updated with the high bids by 7:00 pm PST each day the
auction is running at http://meteoriteimpact.com/Highbids.htm.

Pleasant and respectful bidders only, please.

Thanks again,
Maria
