Re: [meteorite-list] Amgala Status and L7
The classification of Amgala (Provisional name) is H3.7/H5. Hi all What is Shock and Weathering grades ? I suppose that W is 0 to max 1 And from different fable. NWA1839 L7 is now officially reclassified as Ungrouped Primitive Achondrite ? If this is paired to Hupes NWA3133, so what is classification of this meteorite ? This is also ungr. achondrite ? Becouse I read something about strange CV7 etc. -[ MARCIN CIMALA ]-[ I.M.C.A.#3667 ]- http://www.Meteoryt.net [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.PolandMET.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.Gao-Guenie.com GSM +48(607)535 195 [ Member of: Polish Meteoritical Society ] __ Meteorite-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
Re: [meteorite-list] Amgala Status
Hi Adam and Listees, The classification of Amgala (Provisional name) is H3.7/H5. Best Wishes, Philippe Meteoritica Hi All, Mike asked the status of Amgala. Amgala (Provisional Working Name) is still under study at NAU. There are several reasons for the delay. One, NAU has a huge cue. Two, it is a very complex meteorite. Three, nine months is not that long to wait when we still have material from over three years ago still not completed. I will check the status Monday and give updates if there are any. Re: [meteorite-list] Amgala Status
Yes, Amgala looks like Zag, but as a man who has sold about 80 kilos of Zag and 7 kilos of Amgala, there are subtle differences that anyone can see if they have seen a few pieces of Zag. Zag has very thick coarse fusion crust, often bumpy and granular. Amgala has smooth thinner crust, almost never granular. Zag is much more uniform, large breccia. Amgala tends to be very small breccia pieces, more black shock veins. To the trained eye, they look nothing alike and could not be mistaken for each other. I was in Morocco last week, I saw some zag, it is horrible, any zag coming out of Morocco now is rusted all to heck, and look really bad. Amgala is still there, still clean and many pieces looking like they never saw rain (which they didn't). I would be please to examine any suspected piece of either and make the call for anyone who thinks they were swindled. I really don't see any scams happening though, I have looked through ebay and seen nothing out of the ordinary. Is all many strange.amgala have rusty after few days if you cut, and the brecciation is many many similar to the zag slice I haveto much coincidence for this meteoriteyes, many meteorites its paired in the world of meteorites, just few days ago I have received my Bruderheim end piece with crust and its 100% similar to Alfianello, the same matrix, same fresh metal, same crustbut for Amgala the place its the same, and very few is the difference from this and Zag, its for this I have return all the pieces of Amgala to my moroccan person. Re: Re: [meteorite-list] Amgala Status
Hi Mike and Listees, Ive got exactly the same point of view as Mike. I dont say that a swindle didnt exist or still exists or anything like that, I dont know anything about that, but a thing is sure : Amgala (provisional name) is really a new fall. It fell 20km away from Oum Dreyga, on Gour Lafkah mountains. It exists some rare fragments, picked up just after the fall, which have not been weathered by any rain. The classification (H3.7/H5) is the official result of the MNHNP analysis.
