Re: [meteorite-list] Colorado / New Mexico Bright Fireball 5:35 pm MST22FEB2011

2011-02-24 Thread Barrett Flowers
Hi there. We left SLC, UT as soon as we heard about the fall, and we are
currently sitting in a McDonalds parking lot in Ft. Morgan, asking around.
So far no one we have talked to has even heard about the fall! (Much less
seen it) The police dept is right down the street, so we are going there
next to see if they know anything. If anyone else is in the area, give us a
call so we can compare notes :)

One possible hit. 3 radar sites with hits local to this spot, only 1 is
showing a sizable return, with a velocity return also. So I would call this
a slim possibility but the only possibility that I see over this area...

The area around here is already laid out in a big grid system of country
roads. For the past 4 hours we've been driving up and down them (a nice
policewoman even assisted us), but to no avail so far. Calling for snow
tomorrow, so we will be spending the day looking more. Would be hard to find
a better spot to hunt if we can just get zoned into an area. All wide open
and clear farm land.
More updates later today. Best meteorwrong so far- squished mouse in the
road.
