[meteorite-list] Dirty laundry

2013-02-26 Thread tracy latimer

I am very sorry to bring this up, but don't want anyone else to get burned like
me. I have been waiting on Greg Catterton since September to come through on a
trade. Despite repeated e-mails and promises that he would 'make it right', I
have yet to see the lunar display box he agreed to trade for the stack of books
I sent him last fall. I have heard from a couple of other list members that
they have not received their meteorites yet either, months later. OTOH, he has
a pretty good record for following through on ebay (ID freedom_factory,
formerly wanderingstarmeteorites). This isn't a large item that needs special
handling, or an international deal that might have gotten locked up in customs.

Given this track record, I would highly suggest that anyone who intends to buy
meteorites from him make sure they do it with a purchase method that has
recourse.

Best!
Tracy Latimer

Re: [meteorite-list] dirty laundry

2003-12-11 Thread Charlie Devine
John and list,

I'm sure Bernd has a sense of humor, but no way is he Proud Tom. Who
was quickest to answer virtually any meteorite-related question on this
list, complete with enough references to satisfy anyone? Bernd. And he
always showed his class. I don't know if he's disappeared because of
the no-class arguments. But if that's the case, this list is very
much poorer for it.

Buried in snow up to my gill slits,
Charlie

Charlie and others,

Maybe Bernd is busy being Proud Tom? Nah, he is far too consumed being a
school teacher.

Or maybe it is a devilish dealer out to drive Matteo mad, crazy, and loco at
the same time? Let's see who has not been picked on? Mike Farmer...is it
you? Nah...you are too busy chasing rocks from space.

Who else could it be??? Yousef...is that you out there? You kidder
you...Nah, he is too busy finding truck loads of lunar breccias and new
chondrites.

Who could it be?? This Proud Tom is tricky like a fox but considered a dog to
many who are upset. He is clever to a lot of us who enjoy good humor, but he
is a weasel to a few of those who have been satired. His identity feels
close to many of us...but yet he stays aloof. I like it.

The beat does go on...let's relax and wait for Proud Tom 3.

John

 Dave and list,

I miss Bernd. Does anyone know if is still on this list? Has all the
negative content of recent months finally driven even him away?

Hello List, My best guess to the author of Proud Tom, I will not tell, but
his are initials J.S. Just a guess but I think I am right! If Old J.S. is
the author, I wanted him to know I think he has done a great Job : )
If J.S. is not the author, well who ever is, is doing a great Job!
