Re: [meteorite-list] Edgar Mitchell, Moonwalker dies at 85
Sadly, the club of surviving Moonwalkers is getting shorter and shorter. :( But, while we can mourn them, they have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and now dance the heavens on laughter-silvered wings. :) On 2/6/16, Tim Heitz via Meteorite-list wrote: > On 2/6/2016 12:37 PM, Tim Heitz wrote: >> I met him with a friend of mine's son, his son gave Edger a piece of >> the Moon that >> I had. I met him with a friend of mine's son, his son gave Edger a piece of the Moon that I had. I had the chance to ask Edger the big question, do you have any of the Moon at home? Is it the stuff your brought back from the Moon? but I can't remember any of the answers, R.I.P. Yes it's a sad thing. Kids today don't realize how much of a feet it was to do what those guys did. And that over 400,000 people were involved with making it happen. Those guys had balls of steel. I was glued to the TV every time a rocket went up starting with the Gemini missions as a little kid. Sadly, young people today are more worried about stupid Facebook posts. Makes me sick. Regards! It is interesting that sixth man to walk on the Moon passes away and there is barely any fanfare. I guess people have more pressing concerns these days when an American hero passes away and is treated like a mere footnote in history.
