Bob Haag was also in a similar article in Sky-and Telescope magazine from the early 90's. It got me interested in meteorites also.

Hello List,

I'm trying to find out about an issue of Smithsonian Magazine that featured Bob
Haag. If I remember correctly, Bob was holding an iron meteorite maybe Canyon
Diablo, and he had been flying an ultra light plane, which may have been in the
image. The picture was probably taken in Arizona. The issue was published in the
early to mid 1990's. I have asked Bob himself but he doesn't remember. The
reason I'm interested in this issue in particular is because it was a major
turning point for me when I read the article. It was the moment I realized that
I could find a meteorite, something that had never entered my mind prior to
that day. Through the years that magazine went missing and I'd like to get
another copy, get Bob to sign it,and hang it on the wall.

Sincerely,
Larry Atkins

Unfortunately, only recorded by one camera (manual inspection has so far
not revealed anything) and the end azimuth likely puts any meteorites in
the sea southwest of Mandal, Norway's southernmost point.
