I suppose that many, many meteorites are still in labs in classification, but in this case they do not have reserved any NWA numbers. Someone can explain this ? Re: [meteorite-list] NWA 30xx !!! Where is NWA 2xxx ??????
Hello Again List, Numbers are now being reserved in blocks. A lot of these serial numbers are wasted on stones that will never be classified. It is my feeling that if a number is reserved and a classification is not submitted within 2 years these numbers should be returned to stock. Some dealers get a number for every stone and for meteorites they never intend to get classified. They feel it is better to have 30 main masses rather than just one when marketing these unclassified meteorites. In my opinion this system needs to be changed as it is abused greatly. There are several NWA's in the 2000 range I am aware of. I own a 2051, for example. Yes, but beetween 2051 and 3050 is a 1000 of numbers without any known meteorites (not known to me personaly, and becouse I asking for this). 100, 200, 400 numbers will be nothing special, but 1000 ? There was many 18xx, 19xx, some 2xxx and then, unexpected 3xxx. In that speed on june we will be buying NWA 5000. -[ MARCIN CIMALA ]-[ I.M.C.A.#3667 ]- http://www.Meteoryt.net [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.PolandMET.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.Gao-Guenie.com GSM +48(607)535 195 [ Member of: Polish Meteoritical Society ] Bernhard -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of PolandMET.com Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2004 9:47 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [meteorite-list] NWA 30xx !!!
