You need to use the i915resolution from ports to fix your bios for now. In the future, Xenocara will be updated to use the intel 2.x driver which doesn't rely on the BIOS for defining the modes anymore, it should make things easier. (Although the BIOS is still needed for other informations, and it turns out that there are also lots of quirks there,,,)

Tried and as before it stuck at 75Hz resulting in 1280x1024. Some time ago I've somewhere read that on linux with Xorg 7.2 someone also had this problem (I don't know if I can call it same problem, it has widescreen LCD, i810 driver) and solved it by updating i810 driver, xrandr to 1.2 and some other libs from Xorg's git tree. 1440x900 resolution problem
Hi misc, I can't get the 1440x900 resolution on my Samsung 940BW flat panel screen to work. I searched the lists but found nothing that could help me. Try matching the name in the Modeline and the one you use in Modes. IOW, use 1440x900_60.00 in both places.
